Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Israel Adesanya capped off his title-defending performance against Paulo Costa in the UFC 253 headliner by pretending to hump “The Eraser” after securing the technical knockout victory.
Not surprisingly, critics took offense to “The Last Stylebender’s” celebration.
“I couldn’t give a fuck what they think to be honest,” Adesanya told MMA Fighting. “I didn’t even think about it. I didn’t even plan it. It was just justified. Like you know when you’re on ‘Call of Duty’ and you smoke someone with a head shot and then you go over them and then press circle, down, up, down, up, kind of tea bag them. That’s kind of what I did. What it is, is homophobia. People are just mad ‘why are you doing that, you’re not a man’ cause they feel inadequate. Questioning their own sexuality.”
That wasn’t the only thing they were questioning.
Costa spent the last year-plus talking about how badly he was going to destroy the “pussy African” and murder him inside the cage, etc., so he may have gotten what was coming to him, regardless of whether or not Adesanya’s celebration was in poor taste.
Besides, some guys are just “worth it.”
