Former EliteXC lightweight champ K.J. Noons (9-2) is dropping back to Strikeforce’s lightweight division for his next fight. Noons had his last fight at welterweight last October meeting Nick Diaz for the 170 lb title.
MMAWeekly.com reported the news Monday afternoon after confirming the move with the fighter, who also told them he expects to fight on the April 9th Strikeforce event.
Noons wound up losing to Diaz by unanimous decision in the second meeting of their careers, walking away with a broken hand and a broken jaw in the fight. The loss ended a six fight win streak which included a TKO (cuts) win over Diaz for the inaugural EliteXC lightweight title.
He’s fought four times for Strikeforce fighting at lightweight only once. Noons has fought at catchweights of 158 lbs and 160 lbs, as well as 170 lbs.
