Kamaru Usman lists seven UFC welterweights he feels are better than Jorge Masvidal.
Kamaru Usman continues to downplay Jorge Masvidal’s accomplishments ahead of their proposed welterweight title bout at UFC 252, telling TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter in a recent interview that ‘Gamebred’ is just an average, run-of-the-mill welterweight who doesn’t his #3 ranking.
Usman, the reigning UFC welterweight champion, listed seven welterweight he feels deserve to be ranked higher than Masvidal.
“I think it is myself (at the top), absolutely,” Usman said (h/t BJPenn.com). “Then I think it is Colby (Covington). Then you’ve got guys like Leon Edwards and Tyron Woodley. Those guys are there in that close race. Then you know there are killers that are coming up too that I would even put up there. Then you have the guys like Masvidal who win some lose some and are just there.”

“Colby Covington, Tyron Woodley, Leon Edwards, Geoff Neal, Vicente Luque, Abdul Rasak Alhassan and Santiago Ponzinibbio,” Usman listed as the seven welterweights better than Masvidal.
Usman and Masvidal have been at each other’s throats ever since ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ TKO’d Colby Covington to retain his welterweight title at UFC 245. After going back-on-forth on social media, both men crossed at Super Bowl Media Day and almost got into a scuffle.
Expect an official fight announcement in the coming weeks.
