Dustin Poirier escaped Las Vegas, Nevada with a unanimous decision win over Dan Hooker last Sat. night (June 27, 2020) after five rounds of back-and-forth intense action that saw both men leave it all in the cage.
But he didn’t leave without any reminders of the brutal battle he went through against one of the toughest Lightweights in the world. Indeed, days after limping out of the Octagon, “Diamond” posted a picture of his severely-swollen ankle.
Thankfully, neither Hooker or Poirier suffered any breaks (excluding those of the heart) a result of their 25-minute war, but it will still be a while either man returns to action. And that’s just fine, as the 155-pound division has to play itself out over the next couple of months to see who makes sense for their respective return bouts.
That being said, both men have an idea of who and what they want moving forward (see here and here), now its just up to the promotion to make it happen and/or the right pieces of the puzzle to fall into place.
