Polaris Pro Grappling
ADCC champion Kaynan Duarte has signed on for Polaris 13’s tournament.
Everybody loves a grand prix and Polaris have announced a monumental one for April 4. While Polaris is primarily known for their super fights, the promotion has elected to host its first grand prix and the brackets are starting to fill out. Reigning European champion Patrick Gaudio recently signed on and the fan-friendly Freddie Vosgrone has also been announced, but the last participant to be announced is likely going to be the favorite to take home the $20,000 prize.
Kaynan Duarte recently won gold at ADCC 2019 and is also a World and Pan American champion. At only 22 years of age, Duarte has won almost all there is to win in grappling, but the ADCC open weight title still eludes him as he suffered a shock defeat to Lachlan Giles. Duarte holds two wins over Gaudio and while he hasn’t competed against Vosgrone, he has a huge experience advantage.
It remains to be seen who else will be signed for the grand prix, but Duarte will be a hard man to defeat and the only two men to submit him in nogi competition at black belt are Lachlan Giles and Gordon Ryan, who recently announced his return from a short-lived retirement.
Polaris 13 takes place on April 4th in Newport, Wales and will be aired live on UFC Fight Pass.
