It seems more and more likely that Kevin Lee’s future is at welterweight.

Kevin Lee sees a fight with Kamaru Usman as far more intriguing than a big money bout with Conor McGregor.

Lee will make his welterweight debut against Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC Rochester on Saturday, May 18. “The Motown Phenom” seems to be more invested in an extended run at welterweight, at least bed on his interview with TMZ. The former UFC lightweight interim title challenger told the tabloid outlet he would rather fight Usman than McGregor.

“He might not bring the attention and the money,” Lee said. “But, as a competitor, he’ll bring a lot more.”

Lee has campaigned for bouts with McGregor and reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the past, but Usman is the focus moving forward.

“Seeing what he did to Tyron Woodley, that’s kind of adding a little bit to me,” he shared.

Before Lee can make a potential run at 170-pounds, however, he will have to knock off third-ranked welterweight and former lightweight champion Dos Anjos. UFC Rochester takes place at Blue Cross Arena in New York on Saturday, May 18. The main card boasts the return of Antonio Carlos Junior, the debut of Invicta featherweight champion Felicia Spencer vs. former Invicta champion Megan Anderson, and Charles Oliveira vs. Nik Lentz.
