Khabib Denies McGregor’s Visa Application: Russia Doesn’t Want You

While there’s still no news on when Conor McGregor will fight again, you better believe there’s more social media drama from the famous Irish sports star to report. McGregor continues to use Twitter as a primary method of keeping his name in the press … although a seemingly constant stream of disturbing criminal reports tied to his name come in a close second.

McGregor’s latest online outburst came after UFC president Dana White told reporters that Conor is no longer ‘The Man.’ That oh so important designation is now held by his nemesis, Khabib Nurmagomedov. That led McGregor to pick up his phone and tweet “Who’s not the man? Your man had that marquee event did he? More like an event in a marquee. A tent in the f**king sand it was. Keep spoofing to your self horse. Jock strap sniffer championships.”

Khabib responded in Russian suggesting Conor was drunk, and Conor fired back (also in Russian) saying ‘See you in Moscow.’

”Rapists aren’t welcome in Moscow,” Nurmagomedov fired back.

Shortly after, McGregor shared a picture without comment that seems to show him at the Russian consulate applying for a visa.

Unfortunately, any fight that goes down between the two in Russia would likely be of the unsanctioned street justice variety. Khabib Nurmagomedov has repeatedly said McGregor needs to win a fight before he’ll consider a rematch. Both he and the UFC are looking to set up a lightweight title defense against current #1 contender Tony Ferguson, expected to go down sometime around March 2020.

None of this stops McGregor from potentially showing up in Russia and causing a scene. But given the troubling reports of ongoing criminal investigations against him and Khabib’s willingness to reference them, we don’t know if that’d be a great public relations move either. The New York Times recently revealed that a criminal complaint had been filed against McGregor claiming he sexually assaulted a young woman outside a bar in Dublin.

The Times had previously reported on a separate sexual assault investigation stemming from an alleged incident in December of 2018.

“Conor McGregor is frequently the subject of rumors,” his publicist told the Times in relation to this latest story. “He emphatically denies any report accusing him of sexual assault.”
