Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson aren’t scheduled to fight until April, but both men will meet much sooner at the UFC 249 pre-fight press conference on March 6, the UFC announced on Wednesday. The press conference will take place the day before Israel Adesanya’s middleweight title defense against Yoel Romero in the UFC 248 main event at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.

“FACE-TO-FACE. #UFC249.”
Nurmagomedov, the reigning UFC lightweight champion, hasn’t fought since he submitted then-interim champ Dustin Poirier to unify the lightweight titles at UFC 242. Prior to that, the undefeated Dagestani defeated Conor McGregor at 229, submitting the Irishman in the 4th round to retain his 155-pound title.
Ferguson, the former interim lightweight titleholder, is on a whopping twelve-fight win streak and holds stoppage victories over the likes of Donald Cerrone, Anthony Pettis, and Kevin Lee. ‘El Cucuy’ is considered to be ‘The Eagle’s’ toughest opponent to date, and both men are expected to put on a show at UFC 249. The PPV extravaganza takes place on April 18 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
