Khabib Nurmagomedov believes Jon Jones has earned his spot at the top of the pound-for-pound rankings.

Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is, undoubtedly, one of the best fighters to have ever graced the Octagon, but ‘The Eagle’ believes Jon Jones is the pound-for-pound king and deserves his spot at the top of the UFC rankings.

Nurmagomedov might be undefeated at 28-0, but ‘Bones’, the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion, was the youngest champion in UFC history and has defended his title ten times, beating a who’s who of contenders from 2011 all the way up until the present day.

Jones’ career hasn’t been without controversy, however, as the JacksonWink product has failed multiple drug tests and been stripped of the light heavyweight title on three separate occasions.

Despite his shortcomings, however, Nurmagomedov believes Jones has etched his name into the MMA history books as the best fighter of all time.

Q: “Who do you think is the best Pound for Pound fighter in UFC? Jones,” Khabib responded.

Khabib last fought earlier this year at UFC 242, where he submitted then-interim champ Dustin Poirier to unify the lightweight titles. The feared Dagestani is expected to return to the Octagon next year to defend his lightweight title, while Jones will defend his light heavyweight strap against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 on Feb. 8 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
