Khabib Nurmagomedov is expecting some definitive updates on UFC 249’s new venue.

Despite the postponement of the next three events, UFC president Dana White seems hellbent on pushing through with UFC 249. But with New York’s rulings against large public gatherings, the company is looking at a new venue, possibly outside the United States.

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father Abdulmanap expects the card to take place either in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. For his part, “The Eagle” is expecting the new location to be ironed out sooner than later.

“We’ll see. Next couple of days, Dana’s going to send us location,” Khabib said on a recent Instagram chat hosted by his manager Ali Abdelaziz (via MMA Fighting).

Given the restrictions on the number of people allowed in an enclosed area, Khabib offered his own suggestion on how to make it work.

“We need maximum 100 people inside the arena. Close the arena, 100 healthy people come inside and make the show,” he said. “Put the camera on pay-per-view, and everybody can fight. People who are quarantined and (are sitting) home, they’ll have fun and watch fights.

“I think we just need 100 people to make this fight. Put the camera on and show who’s the best lightweight of all time. This is a very important fight, and this is why I like the UFC’s politics. They always try to make the best versus the best.”

As of this posting, UFC 249 is still scheduled for April 18th.
