Can you guess what the former UFC champion thought about it?

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from cage-fighting late last year after an impressive (and careful) submission victory of Justin Gaethje. Despite the best efforts of UFC President Dana White, Nurmagomedov has stuck to his guns and seems to be rather enjoying his retirement.

Without ‘The Eagle’ the world of combat sports has continued to turn. Some of its latest revolutions have been highlighted by celebrity fights involving the brothers Jake Paul and Logan Paul. Jake has beaten up former NBA player Nate Robinson and ex-MMA champ Ben Askren. And Logan recently went eight rounds with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The Mayweather vs. Paul exhibition bout did bonkers at the box office, but fight fans were left a little deflated after the contest finished without either the brash YouTuber being knocked out or the highly problematic Mayweather being royally embarrassed.

Nurmagomedov recently shared his opinion on that affair.

“What’s there to say? They came out, made money. It’s purely business,” said Nurmagomedov per The Sun.

“There was no competitive aspect to it. Old Mayweather came out, they sparred and made money. What else is there to say? How do I feel about it? The guys decided to make money.

“Should I tell them to not make money and not to fight? They came out, put on a show and earned what – tens of millions.”

When asked about whether he saw himself doing something like that, Nurmagomedov didn’t rule it out entirely. “I have no interest in doing something like that yet.”

Numargomedov vs. Mayweather was actually proposed back in 2020 with a reported $100 million pay day being offered to the Dagestani.

“There were such discussions with Saudi Arabia,” confirmed Nurmagomedov, but he stopped short of backing up the reported purse he was offered.
