UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov follows through with his promise to Dustin Poirier.
In a show of sportsmanship, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov exchanged fight t-shirts with challenger Dustin Poirier after their headliner title fight at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi early this month. As he said during his Octagon interview with Jon Anik, he intends to sell the t-shirt and give back the money he’ll be making for Poirier’s charity, The Good Fight Foundation.
“The Eagle” apparently followed through with his promise. Poirier recently confirmed to MMA Junkie that the shirt was sold for $100,000.
“It’s great because it’s going to help a lot of people,” Poirier said. “I’m proud of that. I appreciate them helping out the charity. It’s been growing and I’m very grateful for that.”
“The Diamond” later announced that UFC president Dana White matched the sum Khabib sold the shirt for.
Just got off the phone with @danawhite he is matching Khabib’s donation to the @TheGoodFightFDN !!! I’m so grateful for the love and support! Thank you all!!!

The Good Fight Foundation is partnered with Bellator heavyweight Justin Wren’s charity, Fight For the Forgotten. Their main aim is to build water wells and repair a water supply at a school and orphanage in Uganda, Africa. The foundation has so far raised more than $34,000, surpassing its initial goal of $25,000.
