The list includes figures like Ramzan Kadyrov and Tatarstan president Rustam Minninhanov.
Khabib Nurmagomedov remains one of the most influential figures in the North Caucasus.
According to Business Online, which released a list of the most influential Muslim in the Russian Federation, the undefeated UFC champion is the third most prominent Muslim on the list.
Nurmagomedov was listed ahead of the Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minninhanov and Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov, who were ranked fourth and fifth respectively. The list highlights the exceptional influence Nurmagomedov enjoys in the Russian Federation, especially amongst natives of the North Caucasus. The only two figures who outranked Nurmagomedov were the head of the Council of Muftis, Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, and the first president of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev.
Nurmagomedov, 30, holds an undefeated 27-0 record, which includes an 11-fight win streak in the UFC. The Dagestani veteran is scheduled to defend his lightweight title against Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi. The event will take place on September 7 as part of a long-term agreement between the UFC and the Abu Dhabi government.
