Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap, revealed that former UFC champ Benson Henderson is interested in training with his team in Dagestan.
It looks as though former UFC champ Benson Henderson is looking for a new training camp to go along with his newfound organization.
According to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap, ‘Smooth’ is interested in working with him temporarily in Dagestan. The two met at UFC London several weeks ago, where they discussed the potential union.
“I talked for about an hour with Ben Henderson through an interpreter, discussing his fights,” Abdulmanap told allfight.ru. “He wants to come to us to get ready and to test his skills with my guys.”
Henderson went 2-2 in his last four fights but won two consecutive fights since moving up to welterweight. He is scheduled to challenge for the Bellator 170-pound title against Andrey Koreshkov in his next professional outing. Abdulmanap, who coaches the likes of Khabib, Islam Makhachev, Abubakar Nurmagomedov, believes Benson would be a fantastic addition to the team for a few weeks.
“I told [Henderson] that if Rustam was in the form that he is in now before his fight against you, you would have lost. He laughed and said that he will watch the fight against Park. After the fight, Ben came up to me and congratulated me. He said that with the arrival of this version of Rustam, he likes me even more.”
