Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov has took a dig at Nate Diaz following his confonration with Khabib at UFC 239.
Nate Diaz is scheduled to lock horns with Anthony Pettis in a highly anticipated welterweight clash at UFC 241 but, to no one’s surprise, the Stockton local almost got into a scuffle with Khabib Nurmagomedov when the two fighters crossed paths this past Saturday at UFC 239.
Both men previously got into a heated physical altercation back in 2015 at World Series of Fighting 22 and, after their latest minor run-in at UFC 239, Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap, took a shot at the younger Diaz brother on Instagram.
“This guy is trying to get what he deserves without standing in line,” Abdulmanap posted on Instagram (transcript via Express). “How many [times] we asked him and [Anthony] Pettis for the fight? it was difficult to reach agreement with them. But the UFC can give that chance to this guy.”
Nurmagomedov, 30, hasn’t commented on the issue. The undefeated Dagestani is scheduled for a lightweight title unification bout with newly-crowed interim champ Dustin Poirier at UFC 242. The pay-per-view extravaganza will take place on September 7 at du Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
As for Diaz, the former lightweight title challenger will take on Pettis in the UFC 241 co-main event, which is set to take place next month, August 17 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
