UFC middleweight Khamzat Chimaev, who somehow holds a spot in the Top 15 of the official 185-pound rankings, was too sick to fight Robert Whittaker last month in Saudi Arabia. Fortunately for Hype Reality, which is being called the Russian version of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), “Borz” was still able to meet his commitments for the combat sports reality show.
Chimaev will coach opposite UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan, who is expected to challenge Islam Makhachev for the 155-pound strap at the upcoming UFC 308 pay-per-view (PPV) event this October in Abu Dhabi.
No word yet on when the 30 year-old Chimaev (13-0) will make his return to the Octagon but he’s got some work to do if he plans to repair his less-than-flattering image in the wake of the recent crypto scam.
“We had a good gathering in our mountains, we are slowly getting into training mode!” Chimaev wrote on social media. “Am going to bring you good news soon.”
