Kimbo Slice answers to Wanderlei Silva’s challenge.
On the recent episode of The MMA Hour, newly-signed Bellator asset Wanderlei Silva expressed interest in fighting street brawling legend Kimbo Slice. During an interview with GNP1.de, Slice had a short, but distinct answer for the former Pride and UFC star.
“Wanderlei Silva, you want a Slice of the Kimbo?,” Slice laughed. “I mean, if it makes dollars, it makes sense. I like Wanderlei, I think he’ll give me a good fight. He’s gonna want a knockout like I’m gonna want a knockout. Dude, I might get knocked out by Wanderlei, but I don’t mind knocking your ass out either, believe that. I like a good fight, so if he wants some, come get it!”
Slice has failed a pre-fight drug test leading up to his latest appearance at Bellator 149 and has yet to receive a punishment by the responsible authority, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Should he get suspended, which is very likely, he technically could still have the option to fight in Japan, since Bellator has a partnership with promotional newcomer Rizin FF, where Wanderlei Silva is scheduled to have a tag-team grappling match on April 17.
Silva has received a lifetime ban by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for running from a drug test in 2014. The verdict was overturned last year, however, after a lengthy public dispute with his then-employer, the UFC, he was ultimately released in January of this year and signed with Bellator shortly after.
