After being out of mixed martial arts (MMA) action for over 14 months, No. 13-ranked welterweight contender Hector Lombard aims to reclaim his spot in the 170-pound hierarchy when he takes on the surging Neil Magny in the UFC Fight Night 85 co-main event tomorrow night (Sat., March 19, 2016) inside Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane Australia.
Lombard returns to the Octagon following a one-year suspension for a failed drug test, which turned his UFC 182 win over Josh Burkman into a No Contest. The American Top Team (ATT) staple will look to build upon his 3-2-1 NC record in UFC when he meets Elevation Fight Team’s Magny.
But first, relive one of “Lightning’s” best pieces of handiwork when he dismantled ex-middleweight title challenger Nate Marquardt at UFC 166 back in Oct. 2013.
“Nate the Great” was in the middle of a rough patch in his career, which made this a prime opportunity to pounce on a finish if you were Lombard. And luckily he did, making for an incredible debut in the welterweight division.
Time to see if he’s retained the skills he utilized here to take out Magny tomorrow evening.
