South African fighter Dalcha Lungiambula came into UFC on ESPN 3: Ngannou vs. dos Santos with a decent amount of hype and managed to score an impressive win over the gritty Dequan Townsend in a battle that lasted until 0:42 of the 3rd round.
Lungiambula’s power and speed were apparent from the start when he snapped out a jab that thudded loudly enough to send the UFC commentary booth into fits. From there he was just a little more active and pushed a little harder, taking both the first and second rounds by our informal judging.
In the third Lungiambula came out hard and swarmed Townsend, dropping him with a flurry of punches and not letting up until the ref was forced to stop things. Watch the highlights and finish care of the UFC:

Pretty amazing scene here at #UFCMinneapolis. Dalcha Lungiambula’s family absolutely ERUPTED behind me after their brother’s successful UFC debut. This was really cool. #family pic.twitter.com/EW0klFFM4x

Dalcha Lungiambula’s first UFC fight is also his first win, and he now advances to 10-1. Dequan Townsend drops to 18-8, snapping a four fight win streak that earned him his spot in the UFC.
