No rest for the weary!
Just a few weeks removed from her unanimous decision loss to Michelle Waterson at UFC on ESPN 2, Karolina Kowalkiewicz is gearing up for a quick turnaround.
The Polish-born star will face off against Alexa Grasso at the upcoming UFC 238 pay-per-view (PPV) event on June 8, 2019 in Chicago, Ill. It’s a must-win for Karolina, who has now dropped two straight at the hands of the aforementioned Waterson and Jessica Andrade. Over her last six UFC fights, Kowalkiewicz has only managed to rack up a 2-4 mark.
As for Grasso, she hasn’t competed in nearly a year, losing to top Flyweight contender Tatiana Suarez at UFC Fight Night 129 last May (highlights). Alexa was ready to make her comeback at UFC Philadelphia a few weeks ago, but an injury forced her out of her scheduled bout against Marina Rodriguez.
In her two years with the promotion, Grasso has only been able to compete four times, going an even 2-2. A win over Karolina could put her right back into the thick of things in the women’s 125-pound weight class.
UFC 238 will feature a Bantamweight title fight as Flyweight champion Henry Cejudo looks to become champ-champ by taking on Marlon Moraes for the vacant title. In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko will defend her women’s Flyweight title against Jessica Eye.
