Kron Gracie is officially a UFC fighter.
The rumors were true. A couple of weeks ago, reports surfaced that the UFC was looking to sign BJJ wizard and occasional MMA fighter Kron Gracie. That has become official, as the promotion has added him to UFC 233 in his adopted home state of California. He will debut at featherweight against Alex Caceres. The news was confirmed by ESPN.
Gracie (4-0) hasn’t fought since December 2016, where he defeated Tatsuya Kawajiri. This will be his first fight outside of Japan. Gracie, the son of Rickson Gracie, is a former ADCC champ and trains in Northern California with the Diaz brothers along with running an academy with his father.
Caceres (14-11, 1 NC, 9-9, 1 NC UFC) last competed in July, where he took a split decision win over Martin Bravo. That fight picked him up a performance bonus for fight of the night, the fifth bonus check of his career.
UFC 233 goes down on January 29th in the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. At this point it looks like the card will be headlined by a superfight between bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw and flyweight champ Henry Cejudo. Cejudo’s belt will be on the line in the bout.
