It’s unlikely that Brock Lesnar will ever return to the Octagon, but it appears that he does have his eye on one particular fighter.
We found out this week that Nick Diaz allegedly wants to return to the Octagon in 2021. But before that, many were speculating about another former UFC fighter potentially wanting to take another bout – Brock Lesnar. He is currently a free agent, and not under contract to WWE. The 43-year-old officially retired from MMA, but he’s done that before. So is there a chance that he could actually fight again?
Well, Olympic gold-medalist and former WWE wrestler Kurt Angle thinks it’s a longshot. But if Brock did want to return, Angle said on The Wrestling Inc. Daily Podcast that there is only one opponent of interest to The Beast Incarnate (transcribed by Cageside Seats);
“Brock’s told me that several times, that’s who he wants…I think that might be the only way to get Brock to fight. I think he just wants Jones.”
Angle also stated that he believes Brock will stay with WWE, but if AEW does want to take a shot at him, it would likely cost an astronomical sum:
“I don’t know if he wants to fight again. I don’t know if he wants to go to another company. I cannot see him going to another company, unless (AEW CEO) Tony Khan wants to pay him 10, 20 million dollars…you never know.”
For now, Lesnar will probably just sit on the sidelines until he can make his way through the contract impasse he is currently stuck in with WWE. But you never know.
