Looks like Kevin Lee is one-and-done as a welterweight and will be returning to 155 pounds for his next fight, which appears to be happening at the upcoming UFC 244: “Masvidal vs. Diaz” pay-per-view (PPV) event on Nov. 2 in New York.
That’s according to a report from MMA Junkie.
Lee (17-5) was hoping an easier weight cut would put him on the path to a division title, but in his first trip up to 170 pounds, former lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos, forced him to tap in the UFC Rochester main event.
“The Motown Phenom” has now dropped three of his last four.
As for Gillespie (13-0), he remains undefeated in the 155-pound division, which includes a 6-0 run inside the Octagon. “The Gift” was last seen beating the brakes off Yancy Medeiros at UFC Brooklyn back in January of this year.
UFC 244 will be headlined by the welterweight showdown between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz, who compete for the promotion’s newly-created “BMF Belt.” Elsewhere on the card, Darren Till makes his middleweight debut against Kelvin Gastelum.
