Olyimpic gold medalist Henry Cejudo will make his third attempt to compete in the flyweight division at the Legacy FC 34 card in Tunica, Miss., on Aug.29, against Bellator and Strikeforce veteran Brian Hall, Legacy FC owner Mick Maynard told MMAFighting.com.
Hall (6-2) enters the fight coming off a TKO victory over Cortez Phelia in his flyweight debut at the Bellator pay-per-view card in May, winning his second bout under the Bellator banner.
Cejudo (5-0) was set to fight for the vacant flyweight title in June, but was removed from the bout citing “personal reasons.” In his prior Legacy FC bouts, the decorated wrestler captured a pair of decision victories but failed to make 125 pounds.
“If Henry doesn’t make 125 he needs to go to 135,” Maynard told MMAFighting.com. If both fighters make 125 pounds, the winner will face Damacio Page for the Legacy FC flyweight title.
In the co-main event, UFC veteran Jonathan Brookins moves up to bantamweight and takes on Austin Lyons. In his first fight outside the Octagon, Brookins (14-6) defeated Cody Fuller in a flyweight bout at Legacy FC 29. Lyons (11-3) last competed at the Bellator PPV card with a win over Zach Underwood.
