Alistair Overeem suffered one of the worst cuts of 2019 after getting his lip split in half courtesy of Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC on ESPN 7 on Dec. 7, 2019 in Washington D.C.

Thankfully, “The Reem” underwent plastic surgery and his lip was as right as rain. One man who is rejoicing at Overeem’s misery, however, is Derrick Lewis. Indeed, “The Black Beast” isn’t shedding any tears over Alistair’s injuries or the last-second knockout loss he suffered at the hands of “Bigi Boy.”
“I’m glad that Overeem got his ass worked,” Lewis told “UFC Unfiltered” courtesy of MMA Fighting.
If you recall, the two men have some built up animosity toward one another, which stems from “The Reem” slamming Lewis and his not-so funny jokes, including his now-infamous “balls was hot” interview.
And despite efforts from UFC to try and book the two big men for a what would be a haymaker fest inside the Octagon, a bout between them never saw the light of day. For now, Lewis will focus on Ilir Latifi, as the two men are set to throw hands at the upcoming UFC 247 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Feb. 7, 2020 in Houston, Texas.
Lewis recently got a bit of a tune-up fight prior to his bout, as he took to social media to post a video of nasty beatdown he offered up to a mouthy boxer who decided to test him in the gym.
According to Lewis, the gentleman in the video hadn’t been training at the gym for too long before he started running his mouth, wanting to challenge everyone. Once he locked eyes on Derrick and threatened to knock him out, the former UFC heavyweight title contender was quick to play professor.
”In less than a minute, I tried to murder his ass,” Lewis said.
And it was brutal to say the least, as Derrick dropped bombs on the man, even as he was spilling out of the ring.
