Alex Pereira is set to compete in MMA again for the first time in four years, under the Legacy Fighting Alliance banner.
Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) announced it has signed two-weight GLORY kickboxing champion, Alex Pereira to the promotion on Thursday.
LFA took to social media to give a warm welcome to Pereira, who is well-known for his work in the kickboxing world in both the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions. Throughout his career, Pereira has amassed an overall record of 41-6, with two of those wins coming against current UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
In 2017, Pereira became the GLORY middleweight champion after defeating Simon Marcus by way of unanimous decision at GLORY 46: China. He went on to successfully defend the middleweight championship four times before going up in weight to fight for the interim light heavyweight championship against Donegi Abena at GLORY 68: Miami. Pereira knocked Abena out in the third round, which saw him become the first two-champion in GLORY.
The last time Pereira competed was last December, when he defended his middleweight championship against Ertugrul Bayrak.
Pereira has also briefly competed in mixed martial arts between 2015 and 2016, earning two knockout wins and a submission loss during this time. He went back to kickboxing and has not competed in MMA since, but has spoken about coming back in recent months, so the signing with LFA comes as no surprise.
At this time, the details regarding when Pereira will make his promotional debut or who it will be against are unknown, but LFA did mention he would be joining the middleweight division.
