An injury to Michael Johnson has forced the UFC to make two new lightweight fights for later this summer.
Bobby Green will replace the injured Michael Johnson against Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 12 on July 26 in San Jose, Calif., the promotion announced on Friday after MMAJunkie.com first reported the news. As a result, Abel Trujillo, who was scheduled to fight Green at UFC Fight Night in Bangor, ME, will now face Ross Pearson on Aug. 16.
Green (22-5) has won his last seven fights in a row, however, injuries have precluded him from fighting this year.
Thomson (20-6, 1 NC) will look to rebound after his controversial split decision loss to Benson Henderson in January.
Meanwhile, Pearson (15-7, 1 NC) will also look to rebound after a controversial split decision. The Brit lost to Diego Sanchez in June in a fight most pundits scored for Pearson. Trujillo (12-5, 1 NC) is unbeaten in his last three fights, most recently knocking out Jamie Varner in the second round at UFC 169.
