Knockout artist John Lineker wants to have something to land on once he calls it a career.
Former UFC bantamweight and flyweight contender and now ONE Championship signee John Lineker is concerned about his future after MMA. Currently under a six-fight contract with the Asian promotion, the first of which he already won via unanimous decision, ‘Hands of Stone’ wishes to invest the money he will make there into retirement plans.
A father of five, Lineker revealed in an interview with Ag Fight that having money for a life post-MMA is a constant thought on his mind. Although it is unclear if he will actually hang up the gloves after his next five fights, John already plans to save most of the money he will earn for his future.
“I think about it all the time (my financial future). Time goes on, we get old, injuries come up. I’ve been thinking about that everyday. Raising some money, making investments, so that when I stop, my kids are all set. I hope we can have enough to remain retired. I signed a six-fight contract with ONE, so there’s still some good money to be made. I want to save that money, make investments, so I can have a nice retirement in the future.”
In his ONE debut, John Lineker (32-9) defeated Muin Gafurov via unanimous decision back in October 2019. The 29-year-old left the UFC with a 12-4 record, with wins over some of its most notable names at flyweight and bantamweight, such as John Dodson, Michael McDonald and Ian McCall, among others.
