I guess Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) didn’t take up John Lineker on his request. That, or the promotion does in fact like his fighting style.
A few days after “Hands of Stone” took to social media to express his concerns over favoritism when it comes to matchmaking, the Brazilian bomber has a fight. John has been pegged to step in to face Rob Font in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 154 on June 22, 2019 in Greenville, South Carolina.
The move comes after Cody Stamann — Font’s original foe — was forced out with an injury.
The fight is a rematch three years in the making, as the two men originally faced off at UFC 198 back in may of 2016, with Lineker walking away with a unanimous decision victory. Both men have gone 4-2 since, good enough to earning them the No. 10 and No. 12 spot on the official UFC rankings, respectively.
UFC “Greenville” will be headlined by an intriguing Featherweight showdown between Chan Sung Jung facing off against Renato Moicano. Also on the card, Andrea Lee faces Montana de la Rosa.
