UFC 157 is in the books. It was historical, entertaining and for fighters on the losing end of things, worrisome. After the most recent batch of roster cuts, fighters we never considered to be on the chopping block suddenly became vulnerable. What would happen to Lavar Johnson? What about Josh Koscheck?

As for the main event, it lived up to virtually every reasonable expectation it possibly could. That said, what about going forward? Will UFC audiences pay attention beyond Ronda Rousey? In fact, will they come back for her when there isn’t nearly as much publicity?

And looking ahead, the MMA train rolls on. Tomorrow is Bellator 91, which isn’t their best card ever, but has a few intriguing bouts on it. Then Saturday the UFC returns to Japan with UFC on FUEL TV 8, where Brian Stann will return to light heavyweight to face Wanderlei Silva. I’m not sure why they couldn’t have just fought at middleweight, but whatever.

Oh, lest we forget, Matt Riddle was let go from the UFC for one of the most irrational reasons I can possibly think of.
