The biggest MMA event of the first quarter of 2013, UFC 158, is behind us, but we’re still absorbing all of the aftermath. Most notably, the business success of the event is becoming more and more apparent. Combined with a $3.7 million gate at the Bell Centre and pay-per-vew buyrate potentially in the 900,000 range, UFC 158 is turning out to be a positively monster business success. That means I have some crow to eat since I publicly the stated the event would be big, but certainly not this big.
In addition, several events are this week or weekend. Bellator returns to Spike TV, World Series of Fighting puts on their second show, the 2013 NCAA Division I national championship in wrestling runs several days, GLORY 5 is set for Saturday afternoon and the IBJJF Pan-Ams are also just days away. Talk about a combat sports fan’s delight.
There’s a lot going on, so join me today to discuss all of this and more. In terms of today’s chat, anything is up for discussion, but I will lead with this and it all kicks off at 1 p.m. ET.
As is customary, I’ll post the video window here as the event draws near and I’ll answer any questions you may have if you post them in the comments section below. Be sure that you click the ‘rec’ button for those comments/questions you believe most deserve a response.
Talk with you all at 1 p.m. ET.
