There’s a UFC pay-per-view event this weekend and wow, is it lackluster or what? From the outset, there a few fights I’m interested in. I’m sure others I’m not could rise to the occasion and be better than expected. Or the opposite for fights I am anticipating could also be true. If we take as a given the UFC still runs too many shows, who is to blame for the card? Beyond that order of things, no one. It’s just terrible luck, basically.
Which is why there’s some hope for Friday night’s WSOF 3, which features the fighting return of Jon Fitch. While I am curious to see how that turns out, starting an event on Friday night at 11 p.m. ET is just so utterly disastrous that it almost requires no explanation.
Speaking of Friday night, MMA’s number-two promotion in Bellator announced that for their fall season, they’ll be moving their operation to Friday night, too. They won’t be starting at 11 p.m. ET, but the day of the week is hardly ideal. One hopes that is only in place while the NFL is in place.
