After one of the best heavyweight fights of all time in mixed martial arts (certainly one of the best five-round bouts), we move on to this weekend’s UFC on FOX 9 event, which despite being hit with injuries is still largely intriguing.
We all have the bouts we care about most, but I tend to think the Michael McDonald-Urijah Faber bout is, by far, the most intriguing. That involves a fighter trying to finish what he’s started, another needing this for ascendency, and much more.
There’s also the issue of the UFC’s new digital network, which is an interesting story to some extent. The much more relevant aspect of that service is what it covers, namely, the UFC’s full pivot into early fighter development. Look out international regional MMA organizations: the UFC is coming for your share of the market space.
Oh, and it’s possible Georges St-Pierre will retire on Friday.
There’s a lot going on, so join me today to discuss all of this and more. In terms of today’s chat, anything is up for discussion, but I will lead with this and it all kicks off at 1 p.m. ET.
As is customary, I’ll post the video window here as the event draws near and I’ll answer any questions you may have if you post them in the comments section below. Be sure that you click the ‘rec’ button for those comments/questions you believe most deserve a response.
