The International Tournament of Ultimate Fighting
Sat Dec 24 5:00AM ET
The International Tournament of Ultimate Fighting makes its debut on the GFL Combat Sports Network with Calling a Champion on December 24 emanating from the cold and rugged country of Russia. The exciting 10-bout card is loaded with the top fighters in Europe and will showcase some of the rising prospects in all of MMA. ITUF has two 4-man tournaments (93kg and 60kg) along with a Super Fight that pits one of Russia’s rising stars against a battle-tested American.
In the main event, Tony Lopez (25-6) fights Shamil Abdurahimov (5-1) in a Super Fight. Lopez is a multi-time King of the Cage Champion along with a Bellator and WEC vet. Abdurahimov is on a 3-fight win streak including wins against UFC vets Thierry Sokoudjou and Jeff Monson. Lopez has shown great durability throughout his career being very hard to KO or submit. Lopez is comfortable going for submissions or standing and banging on the feet so look for him to mix up his attacks during the bout. Abdurahimov is a strong grappler with a strong top game and likes to finish fights with ground and pound. Look for him to try and get Lopez to the mat quickly and end the fight early with a TKO from strikes. This should be an action packed scrap from the opening bell.
Two tournaments also highlight the night’s action in the 93kg and 60kg weight divisions. Fighters from Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Holland, and other MMA hotbeds compete in a tourney that is sure to produce new stars.
Be sure to catch all of the action LIVE on December 24 as International Tournament of Ultimate Fighting presents Calling a Champion on pay-per-view exclusively at GFL.tv.
