Ceremonial weigh-ins are back! See Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier face-off.
It’s been around a year since we’ve seen a ceremonial weigh-in in the UFC. Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic began wreaking havoc on the world, and drastically changing how we conduct and view sports, weigh-ins have become a more reserved and ideally socially distanced affair.
However, for this weekend’s UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi there will be a small crowd in attendance and a ceremonial weigh-in. That ceremony will feature headliners Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor, both of whom made weight, flexing for the crowd.
Also slated to hit the faux scales are co-main eventers Dan Hooker and Michael Chandler (they made weight comfortably, too).
The stream is available below. It starts at 10 PM ET.
UFC 257 goes live tomorrow on ESPN+ (you can watch it all here). McGregor enters the fight, his first in a year under the spectre of controversy (again). Earlier this week a lawsuit was filed against the Irish superstar alleging him of sexual assault in a Dublin hotel in 2018.
Poirier enters the fight without a hint of controversy and with hopes to raise money for his charity The Good Fight Foundation. Poirier will be hoping to beat McGregor and avenage a TKO loss to ‘Notorious’ that happened in 2014, when they both competed in the flyweight division.
