We’ve purchased the ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) and with it our dynamic tag team duo, Matt Ryan and Brendan Sokler, will deliver the best possible ‘radio style’ play-by-play broadcast imaginable throughout UFC 262’s main card, starting at 10 p.m. ET in the video player below!
If you would have told me one year ago that Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira were going to headline an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) pay-per-view (PPV) event, I would have smacked you in the throat with a hockey stick. If you would have told me that main event would be for the vacant UFC Lightweight title, I would have just gone full Tom Wilson on you.
Yet, one year, a pandemic and a Khabib Nurmagomedov retirement later (details), Chandler has become five rounds or one punch to the noggin away from being not only a former three-time Bellator Lightweight champion, but UFC Lightweight champion. Not only that, this will take place in a packed Toyota Center in one of the rowdiest towns in the United States, Houston, Texas. So, the energy in that building is going to be as the late Pat Patterson said, “banana!”
With Tony Ferguson battling in the co-main event and Dustin Poirier awaiting another bag in the form of a Conor McGregor fight, this is the oddest successor to Khabib we could have thought of when we all thought he would reign forever just muscling dudes to the ground and keeping them there in the combat sports equivalent of neutral.
But tonight, alongside Brendan Sokler, we will be YELLiNG! the night away from you as I progressively ruin my liver as we watch the fights together. It’ll be weird, it’ll be wild, I may tell some of you to go f—k yourself, but only because I love you.
