In UFC 263’s co-main event, 125-pound champion Deiveson Figueiredo looks to settle his score with Flyweight nemesis Brandon Moreno shortly after Nate Diaz returns to action against No. 3-ranked Welterweight Leon Edwards.

Adesanya tries a head kick with a minute to go, takes a body shot. Shovel hook backs Vettori off. Vettori goes way wide with an overhand left, prompting some mockery from Adesanya. 125 lbs.: UFC Flyweight Champion Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno

Round 1: Moreno jabbing early, lands a leg kick. Low kick to left hook. Combination upstairs. One minute in. Moreno looking sharp early. Left hook, 2-3 attempt. Figueiredo steps in with a knee, eats body shots and lands one of his own. Moreno low kick. Left hook into the clinch. Two minutes in. Figueiredo tries a leg kick. Moreno ties up, lands a knee on the break. Not much coming from the champ so far. He walks into a counter elbow. Two-piece by Moreno. Two minutes to go.

Low kick from Figueiredo. Side kick attempt. Tries a hook kick, misses, goes low-high and gets floored by a well-timed jab. Moreno follows him down into half guard. Full guard with a minute to go. Figueiredo uses butterfly hooks to stand. He tries a lead right. 10-9 Moreno.

Round 2: Big early exchanges. Inside trip by Figueiredo puts him on top in half guard. Elbows to the body as Moreno looks for deep half. One minute in. Figueiredo seemingly threatening a guillotine, abandons it. Moreno regains guard and scrambles, avoiding a guillotine and trying to jump on his back. Two minutes in. Rear waist lock for Moreno, knees to the butt. Nice back take. Figueiredo turns and regains guard. Two minutes to go.

Figueiredo throwing elbows from his back. He tries to kick Moreno off, attempts a granby roll, ends right back where he started with a minute to go. Trading elbows. 10-9 Moreno.

Round 3: Moreno sporting some swelling above his left eye, but doesn’t seem to be affecting him at all.

Moreno still working behind his jab. Eats one in return. Spinning back kick from Figueiredo, answers a low kick with a right hand. One minute in. Wild hook from the champ. Moreno with a nice trip and jumps write on Figueiredo’s back, wrapping up the body triangle. Hunting the choke and it looks deep. Figueiredo survives, eats punches. Moreno wraps it up again deeper and this one forces the tap. Brandon Moreno is the new UFC Flyweight Champion.

170 lbs.: Leon Edwards vs. Nate Diaz

Round 1: Edwards slowly advancing to start. Hard Straight left. Diaz taunting him, tries to surprise him with a blitz. Edwards low kick a minute in. Edwards still staying patient and out of range. Two minutes in. Hard low kick lands for Edwards. Diaz looks for jabs, fires a combination and taunts with two minutes to go.

Diaz rushes into the clinch. Edwards looks for an outside trip, then nearly scores a back take, inserting one hook. Diaz punching over his shoulder. One minute to go. Diaz looks to scramble up, gets to his knees. Back to guard. Edwards lets him up. Leg kick before the bell. 10-9 Edwards.

Round 2: Still basically a sparring match through the first minute. Diaz tries tossing out some half-hearted kicks. Low kick from Edwards. Two minutes in. There’s a good exchange and Edwards puts him on the fence. Successful takedown. Two minutes to go.

Diaz turns for a leg. Edwards extracts it, separates, and stands. Heavy leg kick seems to bother Diaz. Diaz putting his hands on his knees, seemingly taunting. One minute to go. Both swing big right hands. Straight left from Diaz, who eats another leg kick. He puts Edwards on the fence. Edwards reverses, tries a spinning elbow on the break. 10-9 Edwards.

Round 3: Another heavy low kick from Edwards in the early going. Diaz tries a straight left, puts Edwards on the fence. One minute in. They separate. Diaz advancing as Edwards circles. Edwards puts him on the fence. Rear waist lock. He completes the takedown two minutes in, landing in half guard. Hard elbow from Edwards opens Diaz up. Standing over Diaz, lets him up. Two minutes to go.

Ref pauses the fight so Diaz can adjust his cup. Edwards takes him to the fence and takes him down again with a minute to go. Diaz looks for a leg, Edwards hunts the back. One hook in for Edwards. Another cut’s opened up on Diaz’s forehead. He stands, eats a spinning elbow on the break. 10-9 Edwards.

Round 4: Body kick lands for Edwards. Diaz 1-2, Edwards low kick. One minute in. Jab lands for Edwards. Diaz tries to slap, eats a 1-2 and gets foot swept to the ground. Edwards doesn’t follow. Round 5: Another early trip from Edwards, still doesn’t follow. Counter elbow. Diaz looks for an elbow and puts him on the fence. Good elbow on the break. One minute in. Hard left lands for Edwards. Diaz sends out jabs. Left hand from Edwards. Good left by Diaz, clean 1-2 that buzzes Edwards two minutes in. Lead left into the clinch. They separate. Two minutes to go.

Round 1: 1-2 lands for Muhammad. Maia shoots, denied, fires a left hand. Can’t get the single-leg. Another attempt and this one’s deeper. A minute in. He drops it, re-shoots. Completes the double-leg. Muhammad gets to his feet, avoids the follow-up single-leg two minutes in. Straight right from Muhammad. He stuffs another shot. Maia tries a straight left. Another single-leg attempt. Two minutes to go.

Good right hand from Muhammad. Maia looks for another single-leg. One minute to go. Muhammad keeps his balance. 10-9 Muhammad.

Round 2: Low kick from Muhammad. Staying patient. One minute in. Muhammad denies a level change, lands leg kicks. 3-2 from Maia. Well-timed level-change, can’t get it. 205 lbs.: Paul Craig vs. Jamahal Hill

Round 1: Craig tossing out kicks, looking to keep Hill at bay. Craig shoots, pulls guard. Hill immediately passes to half guard a minute in, then has to fight out of a slick armbar. Craig gets in deep on another armbar and this one breaks Hill’s arm. Craig transitions to a triangle and just unloads punches and elbows until the ref notices that Hill’s arm is a limp noodle and calls the fight.

Final result: Craig def. Hill by technical submission (armbar)


155 lbs.: Drew Dober vs. Brad Riddell

Round 1: Hard left hook from Riddell knocks Dober off-balance. Inside leg kick lands for him, then a brutal exchange. 3-2 from Dober. Riddell body kick met by a straight left. Straight left catches Riddell coming in and visibly hurts him prompting him to shoot a minute in. Dober denies it, Riddell re-shoots. In deep against the fence but Dober’s got his weight in a good position. Now he completes it two minutes in. Dober pops back up. Riddell exits with an elbow. Dober head kick attempt. Brutal shots from both men. Riddell changes levels, denied. Two minutes to go.

Dober goes low-high. Riddell low kick and body shots. Big right hook by Dober. Left from Riddell in return. Dober spinning back fist. Riddell sporting a cut high on his forehead. Jockeying for position, Anders tries his own level change. One minute to go. Double unders for Stewart, good knee to an outside trip. On top in guard. Now a low half guard. Back to full. Elbows from Anders. 10-9 Stewart.

Round 2: Anders quickly takes him back to the fence. One minute in. Now some separation, then Anders puts him on the fence again. Two minutes in. Anders lands a left on the break. Anders pressing forward. They trade on the fence, then Anders presses him against it once again. Two minutes to go.

Stewart reverses, then separates. Low kick connects. Overhand left from Anders, then a level change to put him on the fence again. One minute to go. Tries a single-leg, no dice. Round 1: Sneaky spinning back fist from Calderwood off a missed kick. Murphy trying to advance behind the jab. One minute in. Murphy takes her to the fence. Calderwood with a knee and head kick on the exit two minutes in. Low kicks by Calderwood, eats a 2-3. Another counter from Murphy. Calderwood lead right. Murphy jabs the body, eats leg kicks. Evolev changes levels for a single-leg, gets it, looks for the back after Dawodu tries to roll free. Dawodu gets to the fence and stands, can’t dislodge Evloev. High-amplitude takedown. Round 1: Early right hand from Peterson. Hooper looks for a reactive takedown, eats some elbows before Peterson lets him up. Hooper shoots again a minute in, pulls guard. Up to the clinch, back down, now a rear waist lock as Peterson stands again. One hook in. Peterson turns to face him. Two minutes in. Hooper pulls guard again with a body lock. Peterson takes the opportunity to crack him with elbows, then disengage. Hooper tries to roll after him like a Dark Souls character. Peterson right hand. Hooper hits a double-leg with two minutes to go.

Hooper falls back for a leg. Peterson rolling with him. Hooper ties to transition to a calf slicer and eats some hard shots. Peterson wriggling his foot free, goes for his own leglock. Hooker uses it to retake top position, then goes for a leg again. 10-9 Hooper?

Round 2: Hooper tries a head kick. Good 1-2s. Head kick attempt and he shoots, denied. Jockeying for position. One minute in. Peterson pressing him against the fence. He tries an elbow, sprawls on a shot, then falls back for a guillotine. two minutes in. Nothing doing. He rolls to his knees and stands. Hooper pulls full guard. Two minutes to go.

Elbows from Peterson. One minute to go, still on top in guard. Hammerfist. Hooper looks for an armbar, can’t get it. Hooper turns to his knees and eats some nasty shots. 10-9 Peterson.

Round 3: Both men throwing heat early. Hooper shoots, denied. One minute in. Peterson pressing him against the fence. He hits a takedown into guard two minutes in. Half guard now. Chipping away while staying tight. Two minutes to go.

Peterson looks for an arm triangle. Hooper counters with an attempted back take, ends up pressed against the fence. Now he spins Peterson down and takes the back. One minute to go. Full body triangle. Peterson trying to turn back into guard, does so. 10-9 Peterson.

Final result: Peterson def. Hooper by unanimous decision


155 lbs.: Luigi Vendramini vs. Fares Ziam

Round 1: Stiff jab lands for Ziam early on. Vendramini looks for the body lock, can’t get it. Low kick from Vendramini, eats another hard jab. One minute in. Ziam slowly advancing, slips out of range of return fire. Vendramini overhand right two minutes in. Ziam still working behind his jab. Good left hook. More jabs. Two minutes to go.

Man, that jab is nasty. Vendramini really struggling to deal with it. Step-back left hook from Ziam. Inside low kick. Vendramini lands a jab, eats a harder one in return. Near-miss on the head kick. 10-9 Ziam

Round 2: Vendramini pressuring hard, can’t get a takedown in the clinch. Ziam lands a leg kick, tries an elbow on the break a minute in. Vendramini left hook falls short, low-high combo. Fade-back right hook by Ziam. Two minutes in. Ziam double jabs. Vendramini inside low kick. Ziam tries a leg kick. Two minutes to go.

Vendramini right back to struggling with the range. 2-3 attempt. He shoots, gets close, can’t quite complete it. One minute to go. Counter hook from Ziam. Double jab. Oblique kick. 10-9 Ziam.

Round 3: Vendramini sprints out of the gate, hurting Ziam with multiple left hooks and shoving him to the mat. Some hard punches as he follows him down into half guard. Side control a minute in, then full mount. Ziam regains half guard. Two minutes in. Hammerfist, elbow. Ziam manages to regain guard. Hard but sporadic shots from Vendramini. Two minutes to go.

Ziam makes it to his feet, blocking a head kick as he does, and they separate. Ziam going back to the jab. Vendramini tries to lunge in with a left hook. One minute to go. Ziam circling on the fence, eats a right hand. He tries a counter knee. Vendramini punches his way into the clinch. 10-9 Vendramini.

Final result: Ziam def. Vendramini by majority decision


265 lbs.: Jake Collier vs. Carlos Felipe

Round 1: Collier opening with kicks. 3-2 attempt. They trade leg kicks. 3-2 again, low kick. Felipe digs a 1-2 downstairs, swings an overhand. Collier looks for a spinning back fist a minute in. Body kick in combination. Good leg kicks. Felipe with a left hook downstairs two minutes in, then a swatting right in combination. 1-2 to the body again. Round 2: Collier with a stiff jab. Felipe left hook. Big swings early in the round. One minute in. Collier tries a spinning back kick and eats a jab for it. Felipe taunting, trading heat with him. Collier left hook, Felipe body shots. They pause to re-insert Collier’s mouthpiece. Low kick lands for him, then a series of jabs. Hard body shot by Felipe two minutes in. Collier tries a spinning back kick, another body shot comes back at him. Collier 2-1, more jabs. Felipe still pressing forward, lands a leg kick. Two minutes to go.

Round 3: Felipe back on the advance. He answers a leg kick with a body shot. More Collier leg kicks. Hard right hand from Felipe, then a jab appears to sting Collier’s eye. They’re trading bombs. Collier shoots, sprawled on a minute in. Back to the body goes Felipe. Collier loses his mouthpiece again. Big combo by Felipe. Two minutes in. Good 1-2 from Collier, eats a two-piece in return. Collier tries a spinning back fist, eats jabs. Jabs of his own with two minutes to go.

Collier tries a knee inside, eats a right hand as he lands a leg kick. Combo from Collier. Combination from Felipe, uppercut connects. They trade in the center.
