We’ve purchased the ESPN+ subscription and with it our dynamic tag team trio, Matt Ryan, Brendan Sokler and Shakiel Mahjouri, will deliver the best possible ‘radio style’ play-by-play broadcast imaginable throughout UFC 267’s ‘free’ pay-per-view (PPV) main card, starting at 1:45 p.m. ET in the video player below!
Ever get into a fist fight when the sun was out? It’s weird. Like, it feels like this is behavior better suited under the cover of darkness or through the mask of an intoxicant … but we’re not on “Fight Island!”
That’s right, this weekend (Sat., Oct. 30, 2021) Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to the ancestral home of Nermal for UFC 267, which means we in the United States will be watching fights during college football hours and people everywhere else in the world will get to watch them at what is considered a “decent” time.
And while I have my qualms about fighting in the daytime (well, fighting at any time of day because I am a precious flower who enjoys all of my blood and teeth being inside my body), UFC 267’s card (see it here) is made up of people who’d fight at any time of day.
I believe if you told Khamzat Chimaev he needed to fight at 11:15am on a Tuesday in an abandoned parking lot in Passaic, N.J. (home of many a great brawl between union pipe fitters and joint fitters), he’d do it.
Which tracks with the 28th anniversary of UFC being just a few weeks away, this is a card of rising stars, vitriolic journeymen and people who just like being paid (18 percent of revenue) to beat the ever-loving tar out of people.
Watching mixed martial arts (MMA) the past nearly three decades partners the ridiculous and the sublime, in terms of talent, location and content, this card of sullen-faced fighters with a dash of Hasbullah dropped into one of the most opulent places on the planet earth (a.k.a. the location for Sex and the City 2), furthers this narrative of Fear and Loathing.
So strap in as Brendan, Steph, Shak and I keep you company during this four hours of mid-afternoon falderal, whilst consuming enough intoxicants to equal a boozy brunch in Williamsburg.
Remember that MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC 267 fight card right here, starting with the early ESPN+ “Prelims” matches online, which are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. ET, before the main card start time at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
