Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is taking over “Sin City” by way of the UFC Las Vegas mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which takes place TONIGHT (Sat., March 11, 2023) on ESPN+ from inside The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC Las Vegas will be headlined by former 135-pound champion Petr Yan, who collides with No. 3-ranked Merab Dvalishvili across five rounds of bantamweight action. The UFC Las Vegas co-main event will feature a battle of Top 15 heavyweights pitting No. 8-ranked Alexander Volkov against No. 14-ranked Alexandr Romanov. Elsewhere on the card, Ryan Spann and Nikita Krylov pick up where they left off at UFC Vegas 70 after “The Miner” was a late scratch due to illness.

Round 1: Romanov shoots in the opening seconds and hauls Volkov to the fence. Volkov keeping his weight on him, appears to grab the fence to defend. They separate 50 seconds in. Volkov throwing volume early and landing well. He denies a takedown and takes turle position, then slips in a hook and starts pounding. Romanov manages to slow him down enough to avoid a stoppage initially, but Volkov resets and unloads until the ref intervenes.

205 lbs.: Nikita Krylov vs. Ryan Spann
Round 1: We get an awkward exchange right off the bat, to nobody’s surprise. They swing for the fences until Spann shoots. Krylov reverses, but gets thrown almost directly into back mount Trying to turn for his own takedown as Spann cinches up a front headlock. He goes from guillotine to anaconda a minute in, but doesn’t quite have the angle as he goes back to the guillotine. Krylov stacking from half guard, ultimately wrenches his head free. Spann spins to his knees and stands, Krylov still attached two minutes in. Knees to the thigh, then a mat return from Krylov. A proper takedown puts him back on top in side control for a moment before Spann shoots in return, only to get caught in a guillotine. Spann scrambles free but Krylov continues to win the positional battle. The scramble continues with two minutes to go.
Krylob finally slips off the top, then wraps up a triangle as Spann tries to follow him down. Spann taps moments later.

Round 1: Both whip out low kicks to start. Spinning back fist attempt from Nurmagomedov. Front kick, low kick exchange. Nurmagomedov spinning back fist misses, body kick doesn’t. Neither does a head kick shortly thereafter. Getting the better of the kicking exchanges a minute in. Low kick from Martinez, who blocks a Brazilian kick. Continuing to bounce kicks off each other. There’s a nice series of punches from Nurmagomedov, who spins to Martinez’s back in the scramble and immediately puts in both hooks. The angle’s not there for the RNC and Martinez successfully scrambles free, putting him on the fence two minutes in. Good short elbow, avoids a hip toss. Two minutes to go.
Nurmagomedov lands a knee before reversing position. Knee from Martinez on the exit. Teep to Brazilian kick from Nurmagomedov, who cracks Martinez with a spinning elbow and tries to swarm. Round 2: Back to slamming home kicks on each other. Nurmagomedov tries a spinning back fist, then runs the pipe on a single-leg into guard. One minute in. Nurmagomedov looks to pass, but a great scramble from Martinez gets them back to the feet. They immediately get back to trading until Nurmagomedov tries another single-leg. Round 1: Cannetti comes out slinging a variety of kicks as hard as he can. Bautista responds with a takedown against the fence and lands in half guard. One minute in. Bautista trying to get his leg past the guard, can’t quite manage it. He passes and Cannetti initiates a scramble, ultimately making it to his feet with double underhooks two minutes in. Nice outside trip into side control. Bautista sits up into his own takedown and counters a guillotine with a slam into side control. He immediately latches onto Cannetti’s back and starts chasing the RNC. Two minutes in.

Round 1: Turkalj opens with a low kick. Head kick attempt. They collide and Petrino muscles Turkalj down into half guard. Turkalj works his way up a minute in, Petrino still attached. Low kick exchange. Counter left catches Dumas coming in and Fremd follows with a takedown into side control. He turns Dumas away from the fence two minutes in. Briefly considers an arm triangle. Aldrich tries an outside trip, can’t get it. Knee to the head. Outside trip from Lipski and knees to the body with a minute to go. They separate 20 seconds later. Aldrich body kick, Lipski low kick. Lipski lands one more combo and hits a hip toss when Aldrich shoots. 10-9 Lipski.

125 lbs.: Tyson Nam vs. Bruno Silva
Round 1: Low kick from Silva to start. Nam slowly advancing. Silva low kick, blocks the counter right. Front kick downstairs met by a Nam 1-2. 2-3 from Silva a minute in. Low kick to unsuccessful level change. Clean spinning back fist that Nam eats without issue. Silva lands a body kick as he circles and Nam again tries to come back with a straight right. Two minutes in. Low kick exchange. Silva potshotting well as he circles and Nam waits for his opportunities. Silva shoots, denied. Two minutes to go.
Heavy counter right from Nam after avoiding a spinning back fist. Nam continuing to try and walk him down as a 2-1 bounces off him. Shift overhand by Silva, fake level change to left hook. One minute to go. Nam with a right downstairs; he’s finding more success as the round progresses. Spinning back fist by Silva. Silva body kick, Nam counter right. Nam rushes him and lands a solid body kick, then a right downstairs. 10-9 Nam on the later work.
Round 2: Nam staying on the front foot, pumping the jab. Silva punishes his aggression with a front kick to the jaw that sends Nam teetering to the mat. He somehow manages to survive and close up his guard. One minute in. Nam tries to explode to his feet and Silva immediately wraps up the RNC, slipping his hooks in and choking Nam unconscious in seconds.
Final result: Silva def. Nam by technical submission (rear naked choke)
170 lbs.: Carlston Harris vs. Jared Gooden
Round 1: Gooden with his hands low as usual. Body shot and low kick. Hard low kick that Harris can’t quite counter. Trading in the center. Harris wings some arm punches and tries unsuccessfully to tie up a minute in. Overhand right and left hook from Harris, who absorbs another low kick. Gooden keeping the jab going, eats one in return. Low kick exchange. Gooden to the body two minutes in. Hard jab has Gooden pawing at his nose and Harris is stalking. Quick counters from Gooden. Counter left, eats a chipping right. More aggression by Harris. Hard flurry that Gooden absorbs with two minutes to go.
Harris shoots, can’t finish, lands a knee on the exit. They trade lefts. Gooden flurry, chopping right by Harris in return. Some fun back-and-forth exchanges. Gooden continuing to dig the right downstairs. One minute to go. Gooden lands jabs, eats a counter two-piece. Nasty elbow from Harris, jab comes back at him. Trading hands in the waning seconds. Big elbows by Harris after bullying Gooden to the fence. 10-9 Harris.
Round 2: Early level change from Harris, who puts Gooden on the fence. Trading short shots inside. One minute in. Better level change this time and he dumps Gooden to the mat, taking half guard. Short arm punches from the top. Now some elbows two minutes in. Considering an arm triangle with two minutes to go.
Harris still chipping away from half guard. Gooden tries to turn into him and Harris grabs the front headlock with a minute to go. Back to side control, then mount at the bell. 10-9 Harris.
Round 3: Harris shoots, can’t get it, grabs the front headlock instead. Looking for the back, one hook in. He spins into mount a minute in with a potential arm triangle. Gooden gets his head out, still stuck in mount eating elbows. Gooden slips free and gets to his feet, where Harris changes levels again two minutes in. Another successful takedown puts Gooden on his seat. Gooden makes it up, only to eat a huge left hook and get taken down again with two minutes to go.
Harris chipping away as he looks for the back. Gooden explodes back up, avoiding an anaconda choke, but Harris just latches on again and drags him down with a minute to go. Side control for “Mocambique,” landing elbows. Back to half guard before the bell. 10-9 Harris.
Final result: Harris def. Gooden by unanimous decision
