UFC Paris live stream results and play-by-play updates: Heavyweight hurters Ciryl Gane and Serghei Spivac are leading the charge for the promotion’s return to Paris, by way of Accor Arena on ESPN+ today (Sat., Sept. 2, 2023), an 11-fight MMA card that also features the women’s flyweight co-main event between former strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas, and 125-pound “Beast,” Manon Fiorot. Stateside fans will be tuning in early today as the UFC Paris “Prelims” get underway promptly at 12 p.m. ET, followed by main card action at 3 p.m. ET.

UFC Fight Night: Gane v Spivac Ceremonial Weigh-in

265 lbs.: Ciryl Gane vs. Serghei Spivac

Round 1: Gane in blue, Spivac in white. Let’s see if Gane is able to keep it standing. Gane with a nice jab. Spivac kicks to the bread-basket. Spivac reaches for the waist of Gane, who evades. Nice left hand by Spivac. Spivac rushes forward for a takedown, but Gane is able to sprawl out and get in a nice knee before breaking away. Spivac eats a straight right. Gane just walking forward and landing a few shots as Spivac circles and covers up. Gane with a right straight down the pipe. Nice jab, too. Gane with a 3-2 to the body. Slow pace, but Spivak is the one who needs to show some urgency to get into a more favorable position.

10-9 Gane

Round 2: Spivac letting Gane just stand in center-cage is not working so far as Gane peppers him with clean techniques. Spivac with a left. Gane still outlanding him like 10:1 here. He’s cracking the big body of Spivac like Rocky pounding a slab of meat in the warehouse. Lefts by both men. Spivac not doing anything with his back to the fence – he needs to get off it. There’s two big right hands from Gane. Knee to the gut. Spivac turtling standing. Gane unloading now as Spivac is starting to crumble. A couple warnings from the ref and then Goddard steps in to end it.

Final result: Ciryl Gane def. Serghei Spivac via TKO

125 lbs.: Rose Namajunas vs. Manon Fiorot

Round 1: Namajunas in black, Fiorot in blue. Speaks to Rose’s popularity to the UFC fanbase as a whole that she wasn’t booed and jeered like every other fighter facing a French opponent. Both women trying to find their range early. Fiorot lands a good right hand. Namajunas has tried side kicks a few times now and Fiorot has managed to angle her body off each time. Rose tries a takedown, can’t get it. The announce team thinks she has a dislocated finger on her right hand. Namajunas hits a counter-left. There’s a left to the body – maybe Felder is correct about that pinky finger. Namajunas evading Fiorot’s strikes, nearly eats a head kick there, but it just glances. Fiorot defends another takedown attempt. Lands a clean, straight left hand.

10-9 Fiorot

Round 2: Rose confirms she has a broken finger in between rounds, but cornerman/husband Pat Barry says “you don’t need a finger”. Not sure I think that’s very smart to just ignore it, rather than attempt to fix it if it’s just dislocated and not broken. Right hand by Fiorot. Fiorot punches in and shoulder-checks Namajunas to the ground. Fiorot gets to Rose as she’s getting up and pushes her into the cage. Fiorot with a knee to the gut before Rose can break away. Right hand by the Frenchwoman. Namajunas lands a hook kick. Left by Namajunas and Fiorot is planted on her butt! She’s up quickly, and staves off a takedown attempt. Not sure if that was a slip or a clean punch.

About a minute left and they clash heads, which opens up a big cut on the side of Fiorot’s head. Fiorot with a side kick to the stomach. Good short right by Manon.

10-9 Namajunas

Round 3: Rose comes out like a lit firecracker and flurries into Fiorot. Fiorot fires back with some punches of her own. Rose can’t get the takedown, and gets hit in her torso for her troubles. Namajunas lands a counter-right. Now a counter-left a minute later. Good lead by Fiorot. Namajunas connects with a left. Namajunas comes forward, eats a right. Fiorot with a heavy 1-2. Namajunas comes forward and again, I can’t tell if Fiorot slips or it was a punch that knocked her down. Booth says slip, so we’ll go with that.

155 lbs.: Benoit Saint-Denis vs. Thiago Moises

Round 1: Moises in black, Saint-Denis in gray. Both men trade body kicks, but Moises gets hit right on the cup and is given time to recover. The announce booth needs a translator as they wonder that the heated French crowd is chanting. We finally restart and BSD decides to keep kicking… and hits the twig and berries again. This one wasn’t quite as bad and Moises is back up in short order. Saint-Denis has wisely decided to start punching, so he doesn’t maybe lose a point to another low kick. Saint-Denis ducks under a punch by Moises and grabs a body lock. Moises is on one knee and trying to block right hands from Saint-Denis. Moises manages to get up and also evades an elbow.

Man, they’re swinging hard here, about halfway through the round. Saint-Denis looks like he’s getting the better of them. They exchange and now get into a clinch. BSD gets the takedown and he’s punching the side of Moises’ head. Moises rolls and goes for a leglock, but Saint-Denis is out of it. More GNP and Moises is bleeding. Moises with some punches from bottom. He goes again for a leg attack, this time a kneebar. Doesn’t get it. They’re standing and throwing. Saint-Denis swarming, but Moises actually landing the better counters, despite looking like a bloody mess.

10-9 Saint-Denis

Round 2: Moises body kick, Saint-Denis with a right hand. Saint-Denis grabs ahold of the Brazilian and drags him down to a knee. Saint-Denis kneeing the thigh of Moises. Saint-Denis has the back and is wearing on Moises here. Not landing anything super impactful, but he’s on the defense here. Moises the one going for a takedown, he gets his hands locked and takes Saint-Denis down. He can’t do anything with the takedown and BSD is back up. They trade elbows before the Frenchie grabs him and takes him down again. Moises stands, Saint-Denis with the mat return. Moises just kinda turtling and not offering anything back as Moises peppers him. Ref yells at Moises to defend himself, which encourages Saint-Denis to keep swinging away. Moises tries a bit to stand, but continues to wear a French backpack that is raining right hands on him. The ref finally steps in and it’s over.

Final result: Benoit Saint-Denis def. Thiago Moises via TKO — WATCH HIGHLIGHTS!

205 lbs.: Volkan Oezdemir vs. Bogdan Guskov

Round 1: Oezdemir in red, Guskov in black. They land simultaneous right hands. Left by Guskov. One by Oezdemir, too. They are swinging with power here. Oezdemir decides to switch it up and gets a lovely double-leg. He completes the slam and is in half guard. Guskov working his way up, but eating short punches. Oezdemir slips and that lets Guskov get up and promptly punch the Swiss man in the face. Oezdemir lands a big left hook and Guskov staggers back. He’s hurt good and the follow up swarm sends him to his back. Guskov is eating some shots here. Mount from Oezdemir. He rolls to try and escape, gives up his back, but that lets Volkan get his arm under the chin and RNC him until he taps!

145 lbs.: William Gomis vs. Yanis Ghemmouri

Round 1: Ghemmouri in gray, Gomis in blue. I should probably say bleu, given the location. Ghemmouri immediately to the center of the cage as the bell rings. Gomis crashes a high kick into the shoulders of Ghemmouri. They’re trading kicks and kick attempts for a while now. There’s a good left hand by Gomis. Single strikes by both men so far mostly. Neither man has really entered the pocket. Good knee stomp by Gomis. Ghemmouri looks like he ate a kick below the belt. Time gets called, but Ghemmouri announces he’s OK just seconds later. Nice right hand by Gomis.

10-9 Gomis

Round 2: Gomis with a nice combo – amazing what happens when they’re doing more than one strike at a time. Oh, there’s a sweet combo off a switch by Gomis. Ghemmouri has had enough of getting hit and goes for a clinch and a takedown. The lanky Gomis gets his arm over the head of Ghemmouri and threatens a nice guillotine and then a front choke, but it ends up with Ghemmouri getting out of it and reversing Gomis so his back is to the cage. Ghemmouri lands a knee.

They break with about 80 seconds left. Nice double right kick by Gomis. Ghemmouri evades a 3-2 and lands a snapping leg kick.

10-9 Gomis

Round 3: Ghemmouri leg kick gets countered by a pair of hooks. Ghemmouri enters a clinch and backs Gomis up into the metal links. They separate and Gomis blocks a head kick and lands a good leg kick of his own. Gomis lands what looked a little bit of a low blow, but the ref yells to fight on. Ghemmouri doesn’t seem to hear or see it, because he turns his back while still holding his groin. The ref steps in and calls off the fight as a win for Gomis!

They’re showing the replays, and it looks like it clips the cup just a little before landing on the waistline. They’re gathering to the replay official to determine what happened. Odd ending, but they call it for Gomis.

Final result: William Gomis def. Yanis Ghemmouri via TKO

145 lbs.: Caolan Loughran vs. Taylor Lapilus

Round 1: Lapilus in blue, Loughran in green. Piston-like jab from Lapilus to open up. Loughran gets in a right by doubling it up. Lapilus with a left. Loughran goes for a takedown, but Lapilus splits his legs to stave off the attempt. Good hand/leg fighting by both men as Loughran switches between a single and a double as Lapilus counters. They break up and Loughran lands a nice left as they do. Lapilus’ jab has been money so far. Loughran with a big right hand, but Lapilus was circling away from that direction, so it didn’t do much, if anything. I should add that the French crowd has been HOT so far for the Parisian, Lapilus. Loughran times a level change nicely and gets a takedown. He can’t really do much with it as Lapilus uses the cage to get up and land a couple of nice elbows.

10-9 Lapilus

Round 2: Loughran is in on a takedown a lot quicker this round. He interlaces Lapilus’ legs into his own. Loughran landing some light GNP, but nothing major so far. Lapilus manages to get to his feet and shucks Loughran over his head. Back into a clinch and Loughran eats a knee to the gut. Honestly, I think that was a mistake by Lapilus not to immediately circle back to the center, despite landing that gut-munching knee. One minute to go and they break apart. Nice 1-2 by Lapilus. Left hand and a low kick by Taylor. Loughran gets in an uppercut.

10-9 Loughran in a close round

Round 3: Nut shot by Loughran, who… still acts like he wants to fight as the ref is standing in between them. Right hand by Lapilus and a left. Loughran doesn’t appreciate the punching and powers forward to try a takedown. Lapilus is on his feet against the cage. Lapilus circles away, punches, gets clinched again. This repeats itself. Loughran with a pair of leg kicks. Loughran closes the distance, fails on the takedown again. Misses a spinning backfist. Rights by both men, Loughran’s was better. Loughran dives on a calf, can’t do anything with it. Cage grab by Lapilus, gets a warning. Nice straight punch by the Frenchman. Loughran dives forward again, can’t get it again.

Less than a minute left. Loughran lands a jab, eats one. Nice right hand and Loughran slips to a knee. 1-2 by Lapilus.

Final result: Taylor Lapilus def. Caolan Loughran via unanimous decision

145 lbs.: Morgan Charriere vs. Manolo Zecchini

Round 1: Charriere in gray, Zecchini in green. Slick jab by Charriere. They trade low kicks. And jabs. Nice right by Zecchini, Manolo with a left a few seconds later. Fun trading of strikes so far as they continue this for another minute. Good 1-2 from the Frenchman. Zecchini seems to have eaten more than he’s dished out so far. Liver kick by Charriere and Zecchini is circling away. Good front body kick and the Italian goes down! The ref lets it go and another kick to the midsection ends it.

Final result: Morgan Charriere def. Manolo Zecchini via TKO — WATCH HIGHLIGHTS!

135 lbs.: Nora Cornolle vs. Joselyne Edwards

Round 1: Cornolle in light gray, Edwards in the black shorts and white rash guard. Cornolle clips in a high kick just to the edge of the chin. Left hand by Edwards and a right by Cornolle. Edwards grabs a clinch, gets her to the fence. Knees by both women. Cornolle doing better work with her back to the cage than Edwards is as the pusher. Finally, Edwards gets a body-lock and a takedown. Half guard. Not doing a whole lot with it as she tries to pass to mount. Cornolle nearly bucks her off, but Edwards remains on top. Edwards tries to get a better position, but ends up on bottom with Cornolle in full guard. Round ends soon thereafter.

10-9 Cornolle

Round 2: Don’t think I’ve ever seen that – Edwards with an axe kick, ducks under the return and gets a takedown. That was easily the coolest move I’ve seen in this fight so far. Full guard. Edwards working to keep Cornolle down. Cornolle gets to the wall and uses it to stand. She gets in some strikes before Edwards gets a hip toss takedown. The old joke about the WMMA special. Cornolle gets up, strikes a bit, runs into a clinch and another head-and-arm throw for Edwards. Edwards loses the position and Cornolle gets the back. Body triangle and hunts the choke, but can’t get it.

10-9 Edwards, but honestly could be 10-10 or 10-9 Cornolle and I wouldn’t argue

Round 3: Right hand by Edwards. Cornolle returns fire and lands at least three strikes as she powers forward. Edwards doesn’t like that chin check and grabs a clinch. Cornolle doing well in the clinch with knees and elbows. Edwards grabs a headlock and drags Cornolle to the ground. Cornolle is more active off her back than Edwards is on top. Cornolle throws her legs up, gets to her knees, but Edwards has her back and is trying for that rear-naked. She’s got it in close, but not close enough. Cornolle manages to get her feet underneath her and shakes Edwards off over the top. They’re scrambling as Edwards tries to take her down in the waning seconds.

170 lbs.: Ange Loosa vs. Rhys McKee

Round 1: Loosa in black, McKee in green. Big punch by Loosa early. Loosa gets into a clinch, McKee tries for a takedown, but Loosa is out of that and on top in full, now half guard. McKee works to stand up, but eats a series of right hands for his trouble. There’s a nice leg kick by McKee as Loosa keeps up the pressure. McKee high kick. McKee looking a bit better here, with straight shots and some calf kicks. Loosa with a pair of nice right hands.

10-9 Loosa

Round 2: McKee pushing forward to open this stanza. McKee slowing well when he can stay at range – when Loosa can step in and bomb, it goes bad for the Irishman. Clipping left by Loosa. Lefts by both men. Smooth takedown by Loosa in the middle of the cage. He passes to side control, McKee gets his legs into play and has Loosa standing over him before he throws said legs off to the side and back into side. McKee manages to stand, but Loosa stays locked to the waist. He gets the takedown again and blasts a bunch of ground and pound.

McKee goes to stand, but Loosa absolutely unloads somewhere just short of infinite right hands into McKee’s face. McKee trying to survive and does, but not before he gets whaled on. That had to be close to thirty unanswered punches, if not more. McKee tries a guillotine, ends the round on his back.

10-9 Loosa, and that could be 10-8

Round 3: Loosa with a blast double, drives through and gets the slam takedown. He’s in full guard. Good right hand from up top. And a left. McKee slowly and carefully works to his feet. Loosa locks his hands and slams McKee back down. He’s back up, but dude is wearing the damage. 90 seconds to go. Loosa tries for a takedown, doesn’t get it. McKee trips Loosa down and now McKee is trying hard. He’s punching away at Loosa. Loosa occasionally firing back, but he can’t get McKee off of him.

Final result: Ange Loosa def. Rhys McKee via unanimous decision

135 lbs.: Farid Basharat vs. Kleydson Rodrigues

Round 1: Basharat in black, Rodrigues in yellow. Rodrigues with a low kick, then a high kick. Basharat doesn’t like that and he immediately shoots for a takedown that gets stuffed. Rodrigues attempts to take the back, fails and Basharat is now on top in full guard. Half. Mount. That took a whole 20 seconds. Basharat postures up a bit to rain in some punches, but Rodrigues uses the space to stand up. They’re still clinched as Rodrigues backs him to the fence. Basharat grabs a leg, lands an elbow, eats one. Basharat sticks to the leg and gets the takedown.

A minute and a half left. Rodrigues throwing some nice elbows from the bottom. Basharat returning fire. 50 seconds left and Basharat locks in an arm triangle… there’s the tap!

Final result: Farid Basharat def. Kleydson Rodrigues via submission

140 lbs.: Jacqueline Cavalcanti vs. Zarah Fairn

Round 1: Contrary to the introduction by Jon Gooden, Fairn is not the first woman to fight in the UFC. She is, however, in red, while Cavalcanti is in black. Fairn on the front foot to begin. Cavalcanti slips a left, lands a right. Mostly pot-shotting from the outside for both fighters so far; neither finding the range, really. More than halfway through the round and not much has landed other than sporadic leg kicks. Just about every strike attempt above the thigh has fallen short. There’s a right by Cavalcanti.

They flash the striking stats and Fairn is 4-for-41 so far. Oof. Fairn pokes the eye, and it’s pretty bad. We finally get back to action and the round ends without much action other than more warnings about open fingers from Fairn.

10-9 Cavalcanti

Round 2: Everything Fairn is throwing seems a lot slower than Cavalcanti, who is evading well. Aside from the open fingers, that is. Nice left directly to the chin by Cavalcanti. Cavalcanti lands a trio of punches, and Fairn finally bites down on her mouthpiece and swings back with aggression. Brief flurries from both women in the pocket, before they settles back down into the outside fighting. Cavalcanti’s range is much better this round. Fairn not using her size to her advantage at all.

10-9 Cavalcanti

Round 3: Even the announcers are bored by this fight, as Bisping is discussing his newfound preference for chipotle sauce over ketchup. Cavalcanti lands a good left that jacks the jaw. Fairn really doesn’t seem to have the ability to throw a power-punch that doesn’t have a windup. Cavalcanti is seeing every right hand because Fairn is bringing it back before throwing. Fairn wraps her hands around Cavalcanti’s neck in an attempt to get a Thai plumm, but Cavalcanti just punches her in the face repeatedly.

One minute left and Fairn seems to be trying a bit harder now, but she’s just not capable of landing anything. Cavalcanti stuffs a takedown, nearly gets the back… breaks away.
