Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is just a few days away from its upcoming UFC Fight Night 167 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which airs exclusively on ESPN+ TONIGHT (Sat., Feb. 15, 2020) inside Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Taking center stage in “The Land of Enchantment” will be light heavyweight contenders Corey Anderson and Jan Blachowicz. “Overtime” captured a dominant decision victory over the power-punching Pole at UFC 191 roughly four years back, but a lot has changed between then and now. The winner is expected to draw the next shot at reigning UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, at some point later this year. Fan favorites Diego Sanchez, Yancy Medeiros, and John Dodson will also be in action this weekend in Rio Rancho.

Round 1: Sanchez opens with a somersault kick, eats a knee against the fence after standing. Pereira advancing, fires a front kick. Again, blocked. Appears to think about a Showtime kick. Sanchez lands a right hook in combination. One minute in. Low kick from Sanchez. Good body kick by Pereira. Showtime kick blocked. Flying knee attempt, limp-legs out of Sanchez’s single-leg and lands a side kick. Another snap kick downstairs two minutes in. Lead right upstairs. Two more body blows. Two minutes to go.
Pereira ducks a spinning back fist, ties up for a moment. Right hand downstairs. Sanchez slips on some blood. He shoots, denied. Pereira wheel kick falls short. Sanchez leg kicks. One minute to go. Lead right and body knee land for Pereira, then a knee and elbow up top. Head kick attempt. Sanchez falls short with another somersault kick. Round 1: Borella with an early flurry. De La Rosa tries a head kick. Borella catches a leg kick and takes her down; De La Rosa threatens from her back for a moment before sitting up into her own takedown attempt and separating. One minute in. De La Rosa shoots and Borella looks to counter with an armbar. Looking for the back. De La Rosa throwing reverse elbows. Two minutes in. Now in a more traditional one-hook position. De La Rosa gets to her feet with a rear waist lock. Two minutes to go.

Round 2: Borella opens with a lead right. De La Rosa tries to wade in behind punches. 3-2 from her. Borella fires a flurry and De La Rosa drags her down from the rear waist lock. One minute in. Round 3: Borella looks for an early combination, falls short. De La Rosa fires an uppercut to left hook. Jab lands for Borella. One minute in. Neither woman pressing the issue. De La Rosa tries a combination. Good right hand. Two minutes in. Borella fires a combo, leaves her head too close, and gets floored by an overhand right. De La Rosa follows her down into guard. 155 lbs.: Kazula Vargas vs. Brok Weaver
Round 1: Vargas on the front foot early, looking for the body. Low kicks land for him. He catches Weaver’s kick, fires a flying knee, opens up on the fence before changing levels. He runs the pipe and ends up in half guard. One minute in. Weaver looking for a guillotine against the fence, loses it. Two minutes in. Weaver still stuck on his butt against the fence. Now he gets a better angle on the guillotine and wraps up his guard. Vargas works his head free. Two minutes to go.
Vargas chipping away with short punches. Weaver gets to his feet, looks for a power guillotine before attempting an unsuccessful kimura. As Weaver is trying to work his way up, Vargas uncorks a blatantly illegal knee that seems to knock “Chata Tuska” clean out. Weaver wakes up and says he’s fine, but the ref correctly disqualifies Vargas. While Weaver says he doesn’t want to win like that, it’s over.

125 lbs.: Rogerio Bontorin vs. Ray Borg
Round 1: Quick exchange of hooks to start the round. Another trade and Bontorin stuffs a takedown, taking him to the fence. Both look for trips without success. Knees from Bontorin. Outside reap nearly gets Borg down. Borg turns to face him, changes levels and tries to run the pipe. He transitions to a double-leg and takes Bontorin down into half guard. Two mintues to go.
Bontorin regains guard, eats an elbow, looks to set up an armbar. Another hard elbow from Borg. One minute to go. Bontorin works his way to his feet against the fence, but Borg drops the ankle to crack him with a right hook and take him down again into half guard. More elbows. 10-9 Borg.
Round 2: Borg tries a low single, can’t get it, transitions to a double-leg slam and latches onto Bontorin’s back. Both hooks in. One minute in. Borg playing backpack, has the body triangle. Two minutes in. Bontorin manages to separate, slammed back down into half guard. Two minutes to go.
Bontorin regains guard, eats an elbow. More elbows with a minute to go. Bontorin gives up his back. 10-8 Borg.
Round 3: Borg changes levels against the fence and dumps Bontorin to his rear, taking half guard. Bontorin stands, taken down again via rear waist lock. Borg can’t get the back this time. One minute in. Borg just keeps taking him down when he tries to stand and now he’s got both hooks in. Short right hands. Two minutes in. Bontorin shucks him off, Borg stays attached. Round 1: Vannata tries a 1-2. Tentative start overall. 1-2 lands this time. Low kicks. One minute in. Vannata tries a high kick, counters a kick with a right hand. Counter right again. Medeiros catches a kick and lands a body shot. Hard right and low kick come back at him two minutes in. Hard combo by Vannata on the fence. Medeiros lands a body kick. Low-high goes Vannata, who eats an uppercut soon after. Two minutes to go.

Round 2: Vannata sends out a front kick. Medeiros switching stance, falls short with punches. Right hook lands for him. One minute in. Lead right by Vannata, body kick, foot sweep attempt. Medeiros sends out a left straight. Body kick caught. Vannata’s output is waning, but there’s a nice combination. Good 3-2 met by a left hook. Vannata low kick and body shot. Round 1: Low kick knocks Holtzman over, Miller can’t capitalize. Miller whiffs on an overhand left, takes a low kick. One minute in. Low kick and left cross from Miller in return. Miller body kick and straight left. Holtzman patiently advancing. Low kick lands for Miller two minutes in. Counter right by Holtzman. Holtzman backs him to the fence, eats an overhand left and blocks a high kick. Miller shoots in behind a left hand, eats an uppercut and Holtzman puts him on the fence. Two minutes to go.
