Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is locked and loaded for the UFC Vegas 29 mixed martial arts (MMA) event this Sat. night (June 19, 2021) on ESPN2/ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlining duties fall to featherweight contenders Chan Sung Jung and Dan Ige, who collide for a spot in the 145-pound title chase. Shortly before that action-packed affair gets underway, heavyweight hurters Aleksei Oleinik and Sergey Spivak collide for 265-pound bragging rights — and the distinction of being ranked in the Top 15.

Round 1: Stiff jabs from Spivac, who frames and separates when Oleinik ties up. Hard hooks by Spivac. Trading jabs a minute in. Spivac denies another clinch, then another. Good exchange, decent shots from Oleinik. Spivac with a knee on the break. Oleinik leg kick. Spivac doing a very good job of separating whenever Oleinik tries to clinch. Two minutes in. Oleinik looks for a single-leg, denied. Knee from Spivac. Overhand right lands for Oleinik. Two minutes to go.
Oleinik still stalking after him, eats an uppercut. Spivac circles away from a clinch. Oleinik grabs a rear waist lock, manages to pull Spivac down despite a fence grab and puts in both hooks. Full mount, can’t get the arm triangle. He switches to scarf hold, lands an elbow after losing it. 10-9 Oleinik.
Round 2: Low kicks and overhand right from Oleinik. Spivac with some nice counters and combinations as he retreats. Combination answers Oleinik low kicks. One minute in. Round 1: Grant sending out kicks to start. Teep knocks Vera back for a moment. Spinning back kick. Leg kick from Vera. Low-high goes Grant a minute in. Left hand downstairs, teep downstairs. Wheel kick just blocked. Grant outworking him so far. Vera snaps out a couple of body kicks. Couple of knees from Vera. Grant right hand and low kick. Vera 1-2 two minutes in. Nice counter uppercut lands for Grant as they trade in the center. Big looping left upstairs. Two minutes to go.
Vera catches a body kick and takes him down into guard. Grant works his way up, eats a knee before separating. Vera body kick. Grant’s punches sneak around the guard, body shot lands clean. Straight left by Vera, leg kick. One minute to go. Grant tries a tornado kick, eats a leg kick. Grant’s volume winning the day so far as he gets another swing around Vera’s guard. Low and body kicks from Vera. Grant tries a flurry and just avoids a head kick. 10-9 Grant.
Round 2: Grant winging punches, Vera sending out kicks. 1-2 from Vera, eats a right hand and lands a good leg kick. He puts Grant on the fence, lands knees downstairs. Grant with a hard right on the break. Vera low kick, eats body shots. Both land their power hands, good exchange. Counter two-piece from Grant. Vera lands about half a dozen short elbows in sequence that open a cut on Grant’s forehead. Hard Grant body shot, tries his own elbow. Two minutes in. Glancing wheel kick by Grant. Vera with a pair of close elbows and a hard clinch knee. Grant responds with a takedown into guard. Right hand lands for him. Vera tries to go from a triangle to an omoplata, gives up side control with two minutes to go.
Elbows from Grant. One minute to go. He wraps up an arm-in guillotine as Vera stands, loses it, ends up on the bottom. Heavy elbows from Vera. Punches as well, shrugs off an upkick. More heavy shots until the bell. 10-9 Vera.
Round 3: Right hook lands for Grant, who eats a body kick and shoots into a sprawl. Vera tries to spin to the back, gets both hooks in and wraps up the palm-to-palm. Grant survives, gives up mount. Arm triangle attempt a minute in. He loses it, retains mount and lands punches until Grant looks for his own takedown. Back to the feet, where Grant clubs him with some heavy punches. Vera splits the guard with a straight left, blasts him with elbows and body shots. He trips Grant into half guard two minutes in. Grant is badly bloodied at this point. Elbow from Vera. Good upkick from Grant. He turns for a takedown attempt and gets hurt by an elbow. Two minutes to go.
Vera back on top in guard. Elbows. Grant turns to his knees with a kimura grip. One minute to go. Vera slips his arm free and takes mount. Now the back and the RNC’s in deep. Grant somehow survives. 10-8 Vera.

145 lbs.: Julian Erosa vs. Seungwoo Choi
Round 1: Choi throwing heat early, stings Erosa with a left hook. Hard counter right. 1-2 from Erosa. Combination lands for him as Choi throws from the hip. One minute in. Erosa tries a head kick, lands a counter hook. Another 2-3 from Choi and this one puts Erosa down. Erosa goes out during the ground-and-pound and, though he pops back up, the ref calls it.
Final result: Choi def. Erosa by KO (punches)
185 lbs.: Bruno Silva vs. Wellington Turman
Round 1: Turman shoots, grabs a rear waist lock. Two warnings already for Silva grabbing the fence. Turman pulls him away from the fence and hits a high-amplitude takedown before putting in both hooks. Silva slips out and puts him on the fence, where he has to fight off a kimura. Turman uses it to hit a trip to the front headlock, then looks for a high-crotch. Continuing to toss Silva around but he continues to pop right back up. Turman retakes his back on the fence, playing backpack. Silva warned for grabbing the fence again. Two minutes to go.
Short right hands from Turman. Silva grabs the fence again, then slips out the back door into guard. Heavy punches from Silva. One minute to go. More punches from Silva. Turman tries to invert, which allows Silva to put him to sleep with some huge shots.

170 lbs.: Matt Brown vs. Dhiego Lima
Round 1: Brown on the advance. Sending out kicks, lands a low kick. One minute in. Body kick lands for Brown. Calf kick from Lima digs in. Left hook downstairs. Brown jabs the body, eats another calf kick. Two minutes in. Hard leg kick from Brown in return. Another hard calf kick by Lima, staying at range.Two minutes to go.
Brown tries a head kick. More Lima low kicks. He shoots, denied. One minute to go. Another Lima calf kick. Brown just not committing to his attacks as Lima picks away. Matador moment from Lima. Brown fires a left hook, eats a calf kick. 10-9 Lima.
Round 2: Good combination from Lima. Brown finally manages to get him in the clinch, has to fight off a takedown. He does so a minute in. Double low kick from Lima. Brown low kick. Round 1: Stiff jab from Camur to start. To the body now. Negumereanu looking for combinations, eats a counter hook. Camur body shot a minute in. Left hook connects, then a leg kick.
