Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is locked and loaded for the UFC Vegas 42 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which takes place this weekend (Sat., Nov. 13, 2021) from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, streaming LIVE on ESPN+. Main event duties fall to top-ranked Featherweight combatants Max Holloway (No. 1) and Yair Rodriguez (No. 3), who collide in a 145-pound bout with future title shot implications on the line. In UFC Vegas 42’s Heavyweight co-main event, 16-fight Octagon veteran, Ben Rothwell, hooks ‘em up with Marcos Rogerio de Lima, who will look to put his first two-fight win streak together since 2015.

He tries a spinning back kick and Rodriguez tries to take his back. One minute to go. One hook on a standing Holloway. Holloway tries a had kick on the break, blocks a flying knee, eats an upkick. Round two: Rodriguez continuing to punish the lead leg. Spinning back kick attempt. Good left hook as they trade, triple jab. Holloway to the body. Right hook to low kick form Rodriguez a minute in. Holloway combination on the fence, good 1-2 as Rodriguez tries to scoot away. Mixing levels well. Rodriguez falls just short with a wheel kick. More low kicks. Holloway tattooing the body now. Body kick by Rodriguez, eats a cross in return two minutes in. Sharp lead right from Holloway, calf kicks from Rodriguez in return. Head kick to calf kick. Holloway coming back with sharp boxing combos. Two minutes to go.
Rodriguez lands a knee inside, then a 1-2. More calf kicks. Counter elbow from Rodriguez lands clean as Holloway opens up. Holloway body shot. One minute to go. Holloway answers a calf kick with another body blow. Again. Good combo from Holloway, then a flying knee to the body that seems to sting Rodriguez. Elbow on the break. Rodriguez slips. 10-9 Holloway.
Round three: Holloway keeping up the pressure, heavy knees inside. Rodriguez whacks his lead leg in return. Trading jabs. Holloway feints a shot a minute in. Counter right knocks Rodriguez over as he throws a calf kick. Holloway follows him to the mat and threatens an arm triangle as he moves to mount. Great balance from Holloway as he avoids a sweep attempt. Now the back. Two minutes in. Solid punches from Holloway. Staying attached as Rodriguez switches from mounted to giving up the back. Slick move from Rodriguez to get to his knees with two minutes to go.
Rodriguez stands, eats a knee as he does, comes back with a vicious flurry. Now a takedown of his own and they trade knees as they stand. Holloway cracks him with right crosses. One minute to go. Trading jabs. Holloway times a low kick for another takedown into side control. Knees to the body from Holloway. Close to a 10-8. 10-9 Holloway, since Rodriguez gave a good account of himself late.
Round four: Holloway threatens an early takedown after firing punches. Heavy punches in the pocket. Hard body shots. He’s consistently winning the exchanges at this point. Right hook from Rodriguez on the exit though. More heavy body shots by Holloway force Rodriguez to lean forward and he wraps up a vicious guillotine, which lets him take top half guard. Rodriguez rolls for a leg, nothing doing two minutes in. Side control for Holloway. Rodriguez regains guard. Holloway moves to take the back. Two minutes to go.
Short punches from Holloway, knees as Rodriguez stands. Holloway avoids a pair of spins, then accidentally thumbs Rodriguez in the eye while punching. Right back to exchanging when they resume. One minute to go. Flying knee and body kicks from Rodriguez. He’s still throwing to finish. Good exchange in the center. Rodriguez flurries, ladns an uppercut. 10-9 Holloway.
Round five: Rodriguez fighting like he knows he’s down. Right back to the heavy exchanges. One minute in. Elbow to back fist from Rodriguez. 1-1-2 by Holloway, knees to the body. 265 lbs.: Marcos Rogerio de Lima vs. Ben Rothwell
Round one: Hard low kicks from Rogerio de Lima and he staggers Rothwell with the follow-up shots. Rothwell tries to throw back, but after multiple near-knockdowns, Herb Dean intervenes as Rothwell attempts a shot.
Final result: Rogerio de Lima def. Rothwell by TKO (punches)
145 lbs.: Leah Letson vs. Felicia Spencer
Round one: Spencer marches right after Letson and they start trading inside. Clinch striking, nice elbows from Letson. Trading knees a minute in. Sneaky elbow from Spencer, continuing to grind against the fence. Two minutes in. Spencer looking for a high crotch, can’t get it. Continuing to chip away. Two minutes to go.
Letson really struggling to get any separation, though she’s landing the occasional shot inside. Solid elbow from Spencer, knees from Letson as they move about the Octagon. Right back to the fence. Good elbows from Spencer with a minute to go. Hard knees by Spencer. Spencer elbows, Letson punches. Solid knee by Letson but Spencer looks for a single-leg. Can’t get it. More elbows. 10-9 Spencer.
Round two: Early trip from Spencer, looks for the back. One hook in as Letson stands. Letson counters into top position, can’t establish. Spencer puts her on the fence once again as they stand. Continuing to grind and dirty box. Two minutes in. Spencer knee, Letson elbow. Looking for a single-leg, can’t get it. Two minutes to go.
More dirty boxing against the fence. Letson gets space, tries a body kick, and gets taken down with under a minute to go. Solid ground-and-pound from Spencer. Letson makes it to her feet and eats knees. 10-9 Spencer.
Round three: Letson hits a double-leg of her own to start the round. On top in guard naer the fence. Spencer grabs a body lock and sweeps, landing punches on Letson from turtle a minute in. Letson works her way to her feet, continues to absorb dirty boxing. Hard left hands by Spencer. Letson turns to face her. Two minutes in. Nasty elbows from Spencer, continuing to chip away with punches and knees in the clinch. Two minutes to go.
More elbows from Spencer. Letson gets a bit of space, lands light punches, and gets taken down for it. Spencer dropping shots from half guard. One minute to go. Full mount, elbows and punches, and that’ll finally send the ref into action.

170 lbs.: Miguel Baeza vs. Khaos Williams
Round one: Williams stalking forward as Baeza circles. Big left hook whiffs. Baeza shoots, denied. One minute in. Low kick from Williams. Not sure Baeza has thrown a punch yet. Two minutes in. There’s a massive counter left hook from Baeza, then a counter right from Williams. Baeza lead right, head kick blocked. Both kick at the same time and Baeza slips. Williems jumps on him with two minutes to go.
Baeza goes from deep half guard to a leglock attempt. Kneebar to toe hold. Solid punches from Williams but Baeza is in position for a heel hook with a minute to go. Good rights from Williams. 10-9 Williams.
Round two: Low kick from Baeza to start. To the outside this time. One minute in. Low kick exchange. Williams tries a couple two-pieces that fall short. Front kick from Baeza. More low kicks. Quick exchange in the center. Two minutes in. Baeza takes a low blow. More calf kicks when he resumes, which Williams doesn’t enjoy. Body kick form Williams in return, wild flurry misses. Two minutes to go.
Baeza misses with a front kick, lands another calf kick. Good counter right. Williams denies a shot. Flurry from Williams in the center. One minute to go. Williams jabs the body, lands a couple low kicks. Baeza pushing forward. Baeza low kick, Williams flurry. 1-1-2 from Baeza and now Williams shoots. He then knees Baeza in the nuts. They get right back to slugging at the bell. 10-9 Baeza.
Round three: Early flurry from Williams. Low kick. He tries a spinning back kick, avoids a long right. Baeza rips into his calf, but leaves himself open to a vicious right hand that knocks him cold.
Final result: Williams def. Baeza by TKO (punches)
135 lbs.: Julio Arce vs. Song Yadong
Round one: Song pushes forward with some punches. Counter right to answer a body kick. One minute in. Sneaky left from Arce, first real connection of the fight for him. Two minutes in. Song blitzes, can’t find Arce’s chin. Arce tries a head kick. Right cross from Song. Still a tentative fight. Two minutes to go.
Quick exchange in the pocket. Counter jab from Arce. Song lands a long left hook. Pressuring, still pretty even. Nice body kick from Arce, which Song answers with punches. One minute to go. Solid body shots from Song. Both fire high kicks. Song low kick. 10-9 Song.
Round two: Nice exchanges to start the round, both men landing well. Nice body kick from Song, 1-2 from Arce in return. Arce calf kick a minute in. Solid lefts low and high. Song suddenly freezes him with a head kick and right hand, then batters him against the fence until the lights go out.
Final result: Song def. Arce by TKO (head kick and punches)
155 lbs.: Joel Alvarez vs. Thiago Moises
Round one: Low kick from Moises, eats a knee to the body and a low kick in return. Huge 1-2 from Moises, counters a low kick with another straight right. One minute in. Both fire kicks. Alvarez tries a knee, lands a nice combination with his hands and a knee. Stiff jab. Good low kick. Hard exchange in the center and Moises is stung by a tight left uppercut two minutes in. Alvarez firing murderous elbows against the fence. Hard knee to the body as he walks Moises down. Wheel kick attempt, eats a left hook in return. Low kick. More elbows and punches and Moises slowly crumples until the ref intervenes.

125 lbs.: Andrea Lee vs. Cynthia Calvillo
Round one: Trading hands to start. Lee looking the sharper of the two so far, denies a level change. Well-timed uppercut, denies another level change. One minute in. More rapid-fire boxing exchanges. There’s some right hands from Calvillo as Lee lands jabs. Two minutes in. Calvillo catches a kick, can’t use it, eats a jab. Knee to the body from Lee, continuing to control things with volume and footwork. She denies another takedown despite Calvillo catching a kick. Two minutes to go.
Left hook from Lee, keeping busy with the jabs. Low-high combination lands well. Nice body shots from Lee. Calvillo catches one and transitions to a rear waist lock. One minute to go. One hook in against the fence. Lee removes it and separates. Body kick to exit the clinch. 10-9 Lee.
Round two: More high volume from Lee. Left hook catches Calvillo leaning. Body kick hurts her and Lee pushes forward, landing a hard knee. Calvillo manages to recover and land her own body blows. Huge left hook and 1-2 from Lee a minute in. Another body kick and Calvillo looks like she’s wilting. Uppercut and body kick. Another uppercut. Counter right two minutes in. Heavy left hook from Lee, who appears to injure her hand in the process. Calvillo shoots, denied. Calvillo 1-2, Lee body kick and uppercut. Two minutes to go.
Low-high 1-2 by Calvillo. Lee comes back with body shots. Good work at range. One minute to go. Combo from Lee. Calvillo trying to land jabs and crosses but they’re few and far between as Lee swamps her with output. Clean 1-2 from Lee, body kick. She slips in the clinch, lands a right cross at the bell. 10-8 Lee.

145 lbs.: Collin Anglin vs. Sean Woodson
Round one: Anglin pushing forward, eats a body kick and 1-2. Woodson using his length, lands another body kick. Solid combo by Anglin a minute in. Anglin having issues with the distance so far as Woodson picks away. Solid low kick by Woodson answered in kind. Two minutes in. Anglin now catching kicks fairly well. He ties up, gets reversed, eats a knee. They separate. Counter jab stings Anglin with two minutes to go.
Anglin lands a spinning back kick, eats a low blow in return. Clean 1-2 from Woodson and Anglin fires right back. Sneaky head kick from Woodson, pushing forward with combinations. Anglin reels from a body shot and Woodson looks to pour it on with a minute to go. Three liver shots crumple Anglin, who struggles to straighten up until well after the stoppage.

125 lbs.: Cortney Casey vs. Liana Jojua
Round one: Tentative start to the fight. Casey looking for low kicks. Quick exchange, front kick from Casey a minute in. Low kick, clean 1-2. Front kick downstairs, right hand to the body, clean 3-2. Flurry. Jojua occasionally punching back but getting pieced up so far two minutes in. Hard combinations continue to flow from Casey and Jojua isn’t moving her head. Hard uppercut inside. Jojua with a right to the body. Casey with a five-piece with two minutes to go.
Low kick from Casey. Double right hand. Jab stifles a level change, more body kicks. Jojua fakes a shot, tries a right hand and gets torched by a combo. Front kick lands for her with a minute to go. Jojua manages to land a takedown into guard. Casey punching off her back, landing elbows. 10-9 Casey.
Round two: Low kick and right hand from Casey. Jojua low kick, eats a right cross. One minute in. Another heavy right cross lands for Casey. Low kick, takes a right cross in return. Two minutes in. Glancing overhand by Jojua. Head kick from Casey, quick exchange. Jojua counter 1-2. Two minutes to go.

Casey ends another combo with a head kick. Jojua blitzes in and ties up. Good elbow met by a knee from Casey. Jojua finally showing some life, hits a takedown in the last 10 seconds. 10-9 Casey.

155 lbs.: Marc Diakiese vs. Rafael Alves
Round one: Alves opens the fight with a vicious kick to the nuts. Diakiese takes a bit to recover, then returns to action. Alves charges after him with haymakers, can’t connect. Sneaky trip attempt. Diakiese tries a jab. One minute in. Alves tries a head kick. Hard counters. Low kick from Diakiese, who gets buzzed by a jab and instinctively shoots directly into Alves’ guillotine.
Final result: Alves def. Diakiese by submission (guillotine choke)
205 lbs.: Kennedy Nzechukwu vs. Da-Un Jung
Round one: Jung orthodox, Nzechukwu southpaw. Some lead-hand fighting no real strikes early on. One minute in. Nzechukwu keeping a high guard, blocks a left hook, lands a 2-1. Sneaky straight left. Jung sneaks an overhand around the guard, eats that straight left again. Taking turns landing punches two minutes in. Jung with a right downstairs. Nzechukwu periodically potshotting with straight lefts. Jung stings him with a right hand, backs him to the fence, and hammers home elbows until Nzechukwu goes down.
