Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to its APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the UFC Vegas 60 mixed martial arts (MMA) event TONIGHT (Sat., Sept. 17, 2022) streaming LIVE on ESPN+. UFC Vegas 60 will be headlined by the 135-pound showdown between Top 10 bantamweight contenders Cory Sandhagen and Yadong Song. Before that five-round clash of styles gets underway, up-and-coming middleweight bangers Chidi Njokuani and Gregory Rodrigues look to make their mark in the crowded 185-pound division in the UFC Vegas 60 co-main event. Unfortunately, tonight’s lineup lost the bantamweight battle between Aspen Ladd and Sara McMann after Ladd failed to make the 135-pound mark.

Song lands a left hook on the break, eats a 1-2-uppercut and denies a shot. Sandhagen tries a head kick, lands a straight left. Song really struggling with the lateral movement at this point. Round 4: Another check on Song’s cut between rounds, again he gets the all clear. Song body kick met by a Sandhagen low kick. Song tries a blitz, eats a body shot. Body kick to 1-2 from Sandhagen. Nice overhand right by Song. One minute in. Long series of jabs and a body kick by Sandhagen, but Song catches it for a takedown into guard. Song looks for the back on the way up, can’t get it and Sandhagen puts him on the fence. Two minutes in. Trading knees in the clinch. Nice trip attempt from Sandhagen and some heavy shots from Song on the exit. Two minutes to go.
1-2-1 from Sandhagen. Song still can’t cut off the cage. He tries to blitz, eats a clean body shot. Nice double-leg attempt by Sandhagen and he completes this one against the fence. Song looking to use butterfly hooks with a minute to go. He’s lost a lot of blood at this point. One minute in. Elbows from Sandhagen, Song trying to punch off his back. Round 1: Njokuani tossing out front kicks. Low kick exchange. Njokuani catches him leaning with a knee, but slips while trying to chase him. Trading power shots. Overhand right and uppercut from Rodrigues, then a trip to the mat. Nice defense by Njokuani to get to his feet a minute in. Hard knees to the body. Rodrigues is a bloody mess but manages to attempt a hip toss. More knees by Njokuani. Heavy elbow. They separate two minutes in. Prodding kicks from Njokuani, who stings Rodrigues with another counter. Two minutes to go.
Rodrigues decides to charge and he’s dropped Njokuani! Rodrigues going for the kill! Clubbing shots by Rodrigues inside. They trade knees against the fence. Knee from Njokuani and right hand from Rodrigues on the exit. Njokuani puts him on the fence and lands knees again. Short elbow from Rodrigues and he reverses with a minute to go. Gets reversed in return. Jockeying for position. What a round. 10-9 Njokuani.
Round 2: The entire space between Rodrigues’ eyes is split open. Jesus. Somehow, we’re still starting the second round. Jab and teep from Njokuani. Rodrigues to the body, flying head kick attempt. More good knees by Njokuani inside. Trading heat. Rodrigues punishing the body and Njokuani might be fading. Rodrigues wrenches him to the mat and looks to drop right hands a minute. Right hands piling up for Rodrigues and he’s done it! What a slobberknoicker.

145 lbs.: Andre Fili vs. Bill Algeo
Round 1: Both men firing kicks to start. Low kicks landing for Algeo. Double left by Fili, tries to follow with a cross. Algeo continuing to land low kicks, eats a jab in return. Snap kick from Algeo a minute in. Spinning back kick to the midsection. Nasty right cross by Fili that Algeo absorbs befor ecoming back with a cage-crossing combo. Combo from Fili two minutes in. He loops a head kick over the shoulder that has Algeo shooting. Fili trying to cinch up a front choke, can’t do so. Nice counter jab when they reset on the feet. Another clean head kick that Algeo tanks. Two minutes to go.
Algeo tries his own head kick and slips. Side kick met by a Fili body kick. Overhand right by Algeo. Another head kick from Fili. Algeo comes back with a hook kick and they trade heat until Fili ties up. One minute to go. They separate. Nice calf kick from Algeo and a series of jabs. Trading in the center. Algeo body kick. 10-9 Fili.
Round 2: Algeo going back to the body and low kicks. Nice jab. He ducks a right and shoots, denied. Clean jab by Fili. They pause to deal with some loose tape. Algeo body kick, Fili right cross. Jab battle a minute in. Algeo shoots, denied, eats a body kick. Snap kick from Algeo in return and he avoids the next head kick. Algeo hook kick, nice shifting left and knee downstairs. Fili puts him on the fence. Separation. Side kicks and jabs by Algeo two minutes in. Right hand met by some heavy hooks from Fili and a body kick behind them. Fili counter jab. Near miss on a head kick and they trade hard hooks. Spinning back kick from Algeo met by a jab. Low kick. Think he’s getting the better of it this round. Two minutes to go.
Wheel kick from Algeo appears to connect and he tries to follow with a combo. Nice counter jab. The tape is loose on Fili’s glove again. Hard Fili low kick spins Algeo around. Algeo stuffs a takedown, eats a flush counter left. One minute to go. Another long right by Fili. Double jab. Algeo digs in a body kick, eats a heavier one in return. Fili really seized the initiative in these last couple mintues. Heavy lead left. Algeo shoots, denied, eats shots on the break. 10-9 Fili, but it’s close.
Round 3: Back to trading kicks. Side kicks from Algeo, flurry goes wide. Fili just misses with a scything head kick. Nice check hook. One minute in. Nice counter left from Fili met by a body kick. Well-timed level change puts him on top in half guard. He looks for the back, threatens an arm triangle. Both hooks, now the body triangle. He’s got the RNC under the chin but Algeo’s fighting the hands. Hard punches over the shoulder from Algeo. Two minutes to go.
Fili still hunting the RNC as Algeo dings him with arm punches. Round ends there. 10-9 Fili.

185 lbs.: Alen Amedovski vs. Joe Pyfer
Round 1: Amedovski circling to start. Front kick attempt met by a Pyfer body shot. One minute in. Nobody committing to anything so far. Amedovski tries a two-piece. Pyfer 1-2. Good exchange against the fence. Two minutes in. Amedovski low kick. Pyfer fires a 3-2. Low kick. Lead right falls short. Amedovski low kicks with two minutes to go.
Amedovski tries to follow with a head kick. Jab by Pyfer, Amedovski throwing check hooks. Big shot from Pyfer on the fence and another behind it. For his next trick, he goes uppercut-cross and blasts Amedovski into next week. He wants the walk-off, but the ref is far enough away to force one more coffin nail.

265 lbs.: Tanner Boser vs. Rodrigo Nascimento
Round 1: Throwing big shots early. Right cross from Nascimento, then a counter left hook. He punches his way into the clinch and takes him down into half guard. Boser regains guard a minute in. Holding Nascimento close to him. Two minutes in. Ref wants more action. Two minutes to go.
Boser scoots to the fence and does a nice arm drag to slip free and drop punches. Pressing Nascimento against the fence. They separate. Low kick from Boser, jab exchange. Big overhand right by Nascimento stings Boser, who puts him on the fence again. One minute to go. Counter left by Nascimento. Another good low kick from Boser and they trade hooks before the bell. 10-9 Nascimento.
Round 2: Nascimento stalking forward, landing 1-2s. Body kicks by Boser. Low kick, both land right hands. Boser low kick, Nascimento counter right. One minute in. Nice jab by Boser. Body shot. Nascimento checks the next low kick. Another body shot by Boser. Big left hook and Nascimento is hurt. Boser trying to polish him off, can’t do it with the first flurry. Two minutes in. Round 1: Quick jab from Hernandez, who fires a combination before changing levels. Barriault denies it and looks to attack in the clinch. Nice elbow by Hernandez. 3-2. One minute in. Barriault walks him down with a pair of overhand rights. Hernandez shoots once again, get him down with a single-leg, can’t keep him there. He looks for an ankle pick and nearly gives up his back, but ends up on top. Hard right hands two minutes in. Barriault trying to stand, nice wheelbarrow impression when Hernandez tries to drag him away from the cage. Nice shots from Barriault in the single collar tie before they separate. Two minutes to go.
Quick jabs again by Hernandez, then a knee and elbow to set up another takedown, avoiding a guillotine in the process. He threatens his own front choke as Barriault works his way to a knee. One minute to go. Brutal elbows and body shots from Hernandez, then another successful takedown. He ends the round punching from guard. 10-9 Hernandez.
Round 2: Barriault wades in and tries to do damage in the clinch. Sharp left hook from Hernandez, shoots, tries elbows, runs the pipe into side control. Barriault regains half guard. Elbows from Hernandez a minute in. Barriault scoots to the fence and gives up a hook. Two minutes in. More ground-and-pound from Hernandez. Barriault stands, gets spun to the mat again within seconds. Good knee to the body from Hernandez as he looks for the back. Two minutes to go.
Back control with one hook. Hard right hands. One minute to go. Hernandez transitions into mount, drops shots, goes back to the one-hook control. Barriault gets a bit of space and stands. Hard body shot from Hernandez before he separates. There’s a good combo by Barriault, who walks through a hard three-piece combo. Complete domination. 10-8 Hernandez.
Round 3: Body kick from Hernandez as he circles, then another takedown from the rear body lock. Right back to controlling Barriault against the fence. He lifts Barriault up and, slams him onto his head. One minute in. Barriault again manages to stand and again he falls victim to a single-leg into side control. There’s the arm triangle and Barriault goes out in seconds. Terrific performance from “Fluffy.”

145 lbs.: Damon Jackson vs. Pat Sabatini
Round 1: Jackson catches Sabitini leaning with a front kick and swarms, taking him down into mount. Jackson takes his back and pounds until the ref intervenes.

170 lbs.: Louis Cosce vs. Trevin Giles
Round 1: Cosce tries a front kick. Giles flat-footed, waiting for an opportunity. One minute in. Cosce circling, hesitant to step in. 90 seconds in and no significant strikes. Both fall short with jabs. Low kick by Giles two minutes in. Another. Cosce slips throwing a body kick. Head kick falls short. Giles low kick with two minutes to go.
Cosce seemingly terrified of throwing strikes and Giles content to just kick his lead leg. Clean jab from Giles, who circles away from Cosce’s first real blitz. Clean lead right by Giles with a minute to go. I don’t think Cosce’s landed more than one or two strikes this entire round. 10-9 Giles.
Round 2: Cosce looks dejected in the corner, and they get right back to staring at each other. Cosce left hook falls short, as does a Giles 1-2. Cosce tries a head kick, can’t tie up. One minute in. Good body kick by Cosce, his first meaningful strike of the night. Giles tries a head kick. Low kick. Cosce front kick. Two minutes in. Cosce low kick, Giles jab. Atrocious fight so far. Check hook by Cosce, eats a two-piece. Giles body kick falls short. Cosce body kick, solid overhand left and check hooks. Two minutes to go.
Low kicks from Giles. Head kick attempt. Giles ducks a loaded-up overhand and puts him on the fence with a minute to go. Cosce trying to break his grip, eating knees to the thigh. 10-9 Giles.
Round 3: Cosce hits a double-leg in the opening seconds and looks for a Von Flue choke. Half guard. One minute in. Cosce staying tight, not throwing anything. Two minutes in. I don’t think he’s thrown a single bit of ground-and-pound. More lay-and-pray. Two minutes to go.
Cosce’s corner screaming at him to finish the fight but he’s literally doing nothing. Giles also doing nothing in the sense that he’s just holding Cosce. Cosce looks for scarf hold and Giles scrambles up before looking for his own takedown. Knee to the thigh. Thus ends the worst fight of 2022. 10-9 Cosce.

115 lbs.: Denise Gomes vs. Loma Lookboonmee
Round 1: Low kick exchange. Counter elbow from Lookboonmee to answer a lead right and Gomes is cut already. Hard teep knocks Gomes on her butt. Gomes tries to spin a minute in. Gomes lands a low kick, catches a body kick, puts her on the fence. Gomes tries to lift, but it’s Lookboonmee who ends up in mount, slamming home elbows. Lookboonmee takes the back two minutes in. Flattening Gomes out. Gomes fighting the hands with two minutes to go.
Lookboomee falls over the side and Gomes lands on top in half guard. Arm triangle locked in but she’s stuck in half guard. One minute to go. Gomes escapes half guard, moves to mount, then looks for an armbar. Lookboonmee escapes it and the triangle, then blasts her with elbows from guard. More elbows piling up. Wild round. 10-9 Lookboonmee on damage.
Round 2: Body kick from Lookboonmee, who wraps up a body lock and takes her down. Gomes avoids mount. gets half guard. Looking for a kimura. One minute in. Lookboonmee pops her arm free as she takes mount, dropping ground-and-pound. Gomes tries to attack from her back and Lookboonmee lets her up. Two minutes in. Lookboonmee body kick to answer a whiffed head kick. Gomes puts her on the fence and changes levels. Good elbow from Lookboonmee as she defends. Gomes sneaks in her own elbow. They trade knees in the clinch. Hip toss by Lookboonmee with two minutes to go.
Half guard for Lookboonmee. Sporadic GnP. One minute to go. She postures out of an armbar and walks away to let Gomes up, but Gomes uses the opportunity to shoot in and put her in the fence. Slick foot sweep by Lookboonmee. Great clinch violence to end the round. 10-9 Lookboonmee.
Round 3: Gomes marching in, cracks her with a spinning elbow and looks to open up in the clinch. Lookboonmee hip tosses her to the mat and has to fight off a heel hook. Gomes uses it to jump on her back and hunt the RNC a minute in. Body triangle for Gomes. Two minutes in. Still looking for the RNC. Two minutes to go.
Gomes trying to pin an arm, loses the armbar as Lookboonmee turns into top position. Lookboonmee cracking her with punches, lands knees on the feet, then takes her back down into half guard. Punches and elbows with a minute to go. Looking for more GnP, avoids a kimura, blasts her with more shots. There’s an argument for giving that round to Loma but I’ll be conservative and say 10-9 Gomes.

155 lbs.: Trey Ogden vs. Daniel Zellhuber
Round 1: Ogden looking twitchy to start. Leg kicks land for him. Zellhuber flicks out a front kick, circling. One minute in. Low kick exchange. Snap kick from Zellhuber. Nobody committing to anything so far. Ogden tries a long-range shot, denied. Lots of feints on both sides. Two minutes in. This is a sparring session, with Zellhuber especially reluctant to throw. Two minutes to go.
Body kick by Ogden, leg kicks behind it. Quick left hook, eats a teep in return. Zellhuber comes within inches of catching him leaning with a head kick. Ogden not landing clean but he’s throwing two or three times as many strikes as Zellhuber. One minute to go. Trading low kicks. Ogden kicking his legs with impunity. 10-9 Ogden.
Round 2: Zellhuber starting to throw more kicks. Counter hook lands for Ogden. Again. Low kick by Zellhuber a minute in, eats a left hook after missing the follow-up combo. He takes a finger in the eye, doesn’t take time to recover. Low kick when they resume. Ogden body and low kicks. Zellhuber tries to angle off with punches. Hard low kick from Zellhuber after losing the jab battle. Two minutes in. Lead left hook by Ogden. He shoots, denied. Lead hook lands. Zellhuber tries to force him back with combinations. Ogden still getting the better of the exchanges. Two minutes to go.

Round 3: ESPN+ insists on crashing before the round even starts, so we’ll start 30 seconds in. Body kick by Zellhuber. Ogden jab a minute in. Left hook, jab. Good body shot by Zellhuber. He’s trying to open up and manages to deny a takedown. Ogden leg kick, avoids a body kick. Two minutes in. Left hook. Stiff jab by Zellhuber in return. Long 1-2. Another clean jab. Ogden body kick. Nice check hook, shoots, denied. Zellhuber just can’t find the mark with any of his big shots. Two minutes to go.
More low kicks by Ogden. Still a step ahead of Zellhuber in the tit-for-tat exchanges. One minute to go. Zellhuber seems to have no idea how to deal with Ogden circling clockwise. He does manage to stop a takedown and try to throw heat. Body kick from Zellhuber in the final seconds. 10-9 Ogden.

125 lbs.: Mariya Agapova vs. Gillian Robertson
Round 1: Robertson scrambles through a guillotine attempt for an early takedown. Agapova slips free and stands, then has to fight off a series of single-legs. Nice elbows as she defends a minute in. Robertson just absorbs them all, then continues to drive. Robertson looks to transition to the back. Awkward position with one hook in. Seatbelt grip for Robertson. Two minutes in. Agapova gets to her feet and breaks Robertson’s grip to separate. Two minutes to go.
Agapova tries a Superman punch, lands a side kick. Counter 1-2. Whiffed spinning back fist. Robertson shoots in for a single-leg, absorbs more hammerfists. One minute to go. Still fighting for the takedown, still eating strikes. She manages to finish it somehow and goes from an RNC attempt to an arm triangle attempt. Arm triangle locked in. Agapova holds on until the bell. 10-9 Agapova.
Round 2: Agapova tries a spinning back fist and denies a level change. Side kick. Nice outside trip finish puts Robertson on top in half guard. Mount, looking for the back a minute in. Dropping left hands. Robertson locks up the RNC, then slips in the second hook. Agapova stays conscious for a frankly inhuman amount of time, but the lights go out regardless.

Round 1: Body kicks from Gravely in the early going. Basharat low kick. Gravely left hook falls just short, jab does not. Low kick exchange. Brief clinch a minute in. Gravely tries to blitz, puts him on the fence. Basharat sporting a cut over his left eyebrow. Gravely spins him down, can’t keep him there. Back down, back up. Two minutes in. Gravely slams him down again, maintains the body lock as he stands. Solid knee. Basharat exits with an elbow. They pause to check out the cut, which replays show was from a glancing clash of heads. All clear to continue. Basharat tries a flying knee, sprawls on a shot, lands a knee. Two minutes to go.
Low kick lands for Gravely. Basharat looking for snap kicks downstairs. Sharp cross by Gravely, heavy uppercut by Basharat. Gravely continuing to advance, lands another low kick. Right cross, then a heavier one. One minute to go. Surprise double-leg from Basharat, but Gravely transitions from a front headlock and stands. Spinning back kick by Basharat. 10-9 Gravely.
Round 2: Basharat denies an early level change. Gravely times a low kick for a double-leg, fights through the whizzer to put him on the fence. Solid defense from Basharat. That whizzer doing wonders for him. Gravely slips on the exit a minute in. He shoots again and this time Basharat ends up on top in half guard. Short punches from Basharat as Gravely holds him close. Sneaky elbows two minutes in. He considers an arm triangle, lands a couple more elbows. Knee to the body. Gravely gets to his knees, trying to stand as Basharat cinches up an anaconda. Two minutes to go.
Basharat looks for the back, settles for putting Gravely on the fence. Both land big on the exit. Basharat low kick. One minute to go. Basharat jab, Gravely low kick. Good body shot from Basharat, who complains of a headbutt. Gravely seems like he’s fading, tries a desperate shot after eating a front kick. Ugly spinning back kick attempt that earns him a body kick. 10-9 Basharat.
Round 3: Gravely whiffs on a big two-piece. Low kick connects, blast double does not. Basharat goes low-high with straights. Clean lead right a minute in. Lovely dart left. Basharat’s really found his flow, avoiding Gravely’s shots and peppering from every angle. Two minutes in. Gravely catches a front kick and a scramble ensues. They ultimately return to the feet. Basharat continuing to potshot. Sneaky elbow. Gravely just a step behind at this point, eats body shots. Two minutes to go.
Basharat low kick and snap kick. Gravely tries a right hand on the break, lands a low kick. Basharat piecing him up. Another elbow and a sprawl with a minute to go. More combinations. Front kick to spinning back kick to elbow. He opens up on the fence to cap off a dominant comeback. 10-9 Basharat.
Final result: Basharat def. Gravely by unanimous decision

Round 1: VanCamp pokes with a front kick. Motta looking for jabs, eats a low kick. Left hook to the body a minute in, tries to follow up upstairs. Nice jab by VanCamp. He’s managing the range well, avoiding the big left hooks from Motta. Two minutes in. Again Motta falls just short with a big hook. Low kick from VanCamp. Motta avoids a flying knee and lands a glancing head kick, then answers a jab with a clean left hook. Smiling at one another with two minutes to go.
Another left hook lands for Motta, then a leg kick. Another left hook knocks VanCamp back. Motta flashes a right cross in VanCamp’s face, then follows with a wound-up bomb of a left hook that sends him to his rear. VanCamp tries to shoot, but Motta hammers him into the canvas until the ref steps in.
Final result: Motta def. VanCamp by TKO (punches)
