UFC VEGAS 62 PLAY-BY-PLAY:
125 lbs.: Alexa Grasso vs. Viviane Araujo
Round 1: Araujo in gray, Grasso in black. Grasso with a couple left hands. I was just about to type that about 90 seconds through, it’s been hands exclusively from both women, but Grasso tried a head kick while Araujo landed a leg kick. Still mostly boxing here as both women are crispy in the pocket with a bunch of jabs. Araujo tries a takedown, gets nowhere with it. Grasso walks face first into a jab. Araujo level changes and gets the takedown, only to immediately get reversed by Grasso who stands up. They’re clinched up against the fence.
10-9 Grasso in a razor thin round.
Round 2: Right hands from both women. Grasso lands a head kick. Araujo 1-2. Grasso straight right. A nice counterpunch, too. Araujo’s turn to counterpunch. Araujo shoots a double and gets it in the middle of the cage. Side control. Araujo almost gets mount, but Grasso slips it to half guard. Side. There’s an explosion out from Grasso and she’s up. Grasso spamming her 1-2 to really try and get this round back. She’s landing significant strikes here with regularity.
10-9 Grasso
Round 3: Again, the round starts with right hands by both. Per the commentary, both women’s cornermen think they’re up 2-0. I politely disagree with Araujo’s corner on this one. Head-body from Grasso, right by Araujo, left-right by Grasso. Snappy inside leg kick by Araujo, right hand connects for Grasso. Another right. Left to the body and a front-leg kick now. Araujo hits a left while Grasso’s right lands. Grasso 1-2. Araujo right, Grasso left.
10-9 Grasso
Round 4: The fourth is basically more of the same. Araujo landing a couple rights. Grasso connects on a lead left hook. Araujo’s output is up a little this round. Now Grasso has found her range again. Araujo tries a kick, and as she brings her leg down, she swings with the right hand and lands clean. Grasso snapping the head back with her right. Here’s a takedown attempt with a minute left. Grasso defending up against the cage and landing some light elbows. Foot stomps by Araujo.
10-9 Araujo in another very close round.
Round 5: Slower start to this round, as both combatants are feinting and moving. Lefts from both of ‘em. They exchange leg kicks. Two rights land for Grasso. Araujo tries a couple of takedowns that get stuffed badly. Grasso with a 4-piece combo and that’s the only real significant action of the last round.
10-9 Grasso.
Final result: Alexa Grasso def. Viviane Araujo by decision (unanimous)

Round 1: Martinez in gray, Swanson in red. Martinez slips on a kick and Swanson uses it to try a guillotine. Martinez gets out of it and maintains the clinch. Cub kicking to the knee, thigh and calf. Cub gets to a knee and then up. Heavy leg kick by Martinez. That one gets checked. Swanson with a right hand to the body. Huge Martinez knee smashes Swanson. Cub is down and Martinez is trying to end it. Swanson’s recovered enough to try an upkick and then get up. Eats a big body kick that hurts him again. Swanson saved by the bell.

Round 2: Martinez being very aggressive and keeps punching forward. Swanson is trying to stay out of the line of fire, but he’s wearing it. Cub drops down to try a takedown, but ends up on bottom. Arm triangle attempt by Martinez. More ground control here by Martinez. Finally, Swanson is up with about 2:15 left in the round. Swanson looks like he’s trying his damndest to get some back. There’s a right hand that lands clean. And a left. Oh man, huge leg kick from Martinez crumbles Swanson’s lead leg. He gets up gingerly and then gets kicked again and dropped again. Huge leg kick spins Swanson around and down and the ref stops it as he can’t do anything to stay up.
Final result: Jonathan Martinez def. Cub Swanson by TKO (leg kicks) Round 2
185 lbs.: Dusko Todorovic vs. Jordan Wright
Round 1: Todorovic in red, Wright in blue. Todorovic with an immediate takedown attempt. They’re clinched to the cage, but Wright is able to stay… upright. Hiyo. Now Wright reverses and he gets the takedown. Wright holding position mostly. Todorovic goes for a leg attack and Wright spins out of it while trying to get in some strikes as Todorovic’s hands are occupied. Some very big punches from the “Beverly Hills Ninja”. Wright trying for an arm triangle, gives up on it to take mount. Todorovic tries another heel hook, and uses the attack to stand.
10-9 Wright
Round 2: Todorovic with a mouse under his right eye. Todorovic decides that he’s done with this wrestling and he’s BANGING. Something like 20 significant strikes from Todorovic in the first minute. Malkoun working his hands. 3-2 cracks in for Maximov as he tries to get back in this. Takedown dumps Maximov to his butt. Malkoun working hard to stay on top this time, but literally as I type that, Maximov gets to his knees and is up. He blasts in a right hand, but gets taken down again seconds later. Maximov gets an underhook and uses it to get to his knees. Malkoun with a front headlock and that’s where we end.
