Two Royal Rumble battles and two championship showdowns highlight one of WWE’s biggest nights of the year this evening (Sat., Jan. 27, 2024) from St. Petersburg, Fla., start time set for 8 p.m. ET on Peacock.
It’s one of professional wrestling’s biggest nights, the annual World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Royal Rumble event happening TONIGHT (Sat., Jan. 27, 2024) live at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., starting at 8 p.m. ET. All those desiring to watch the show have two places to watch. If you’re in the United States, it’s streaming exclusively on Peacock. If you’re anywhere else on this globe, it’s on the WWE network.
Aside from the traditional men’s Rumble — as has happened every year since 2018 — we have a women’s Rumble as well. We’re also getting two championship matches: Roman Reigns vs. three challengers for the WWE universal championship and social media star (and shockingly decent professional grappler), Logan Paul, puts his United States championship on the line against Kevin Owens.
Look, when Paul said he was going to be a professional wrestler, I didn’t actually expect him to be decent at it. Instead, he has done some very good work on that stage, on a level you don’t see from neophytes very often.
This was what he did at last year’s Rumble:
WHAT DID WE JUST WITNESS?!?@LoganPaul and @KingRicochet just blew our minds at #RoyalRumble with an unbelievable moment! pic.twitter.com/V5HIMhT0yQ

I legitimately am looking forward to seeing what he and the other WWE athletes do this year.

Women’s Royal Rumble
First entrant is Natalya and she’ll have 90 seconds alone with Naomi (returning to the WWE ring after a two-year absence). As Natalya hits a drop kick, entrant #3 is revealed to be Bayley. No one eliminated before #4 Candice LaRae comes into the ring. Still no eliminations yet.
#5 is Jordynne Grace. Natalya on the edge of getting eliminated as #6 Indi Hartwell enters. Natalya swings back in under the bottom rope. I see Naomi on the outside, but I think she just hid under the rope without getting eliminated. Here comes #7 Asuka. Hartwell is the first elimination. #8 is Ivy Nile. Slow minute and a half passes before Katana Chance comes in the ninth spot.
Impressive double suplex from Nile and Grace. #10 is Bianca Belair. No eliminations and here comes Kairi Sane as #11. Finally, Candace LaRae is eliminated. #12, Tegan Nox comes to the ring. Nox eliminates Natalya followed immediately by her own elimination. Kayden Carter is #13. Now out goes Sane, followed by Asuka a few seconds later.
Here comes #14 Chelsea Green. Grace eliminated by Belair. #15 Piper Nevin ambles to the ring. Xia Li is #16. No eliminations for a while now. 17th is shown to be Zelina Vega. Crowded ring now as we get Maxxine Dupri in as #18. Carter gets tossed out just before #19 comes in, and it’s Nia Jax. Jax promptly elminates Li and Nile. #20 Shotzi comes in driving a tank contraption a la Tank Girl. Everyone taking shots at Jax now.
Out goes Dupri and there goes Nevin as well. Katana follows shortly thereafter. #21 is Becky Lynch, who after a minute, eliminated Chelsea. #22 is Alba Fyre. Incoming #23 is former MMA vet, Shayna Baszler. Belair nearly eliminated, but not yet. #24 is Valhalla. Aaaaand out goes Valhalla in five seconds. #25 is Michin. Alba gets eliminated by Naomi. Here comes #26, Zoey Stark with a sky high drop kick as an entrance. Stark and Baszler eliminate Vega.
#27 is Roxanne Perez from the NXT brand. Baszler eliminated by Jax, as is Michin seconds later. There goes Shotzi, too. #28 comes in and it’s Jade Cargill. And she gets into it with Jax immediately and gets the big woman out. Next to last entrant is Tiffany Stratton. And the final entrant is Liv Morgan.
Morgan elbows out Stark. Tiffany kicks out Perez. We’re down to 7. Cargill swings Naomi into Lynch for the elimination of “The Man”, and a second later, the original entrant is tossed, too. Bayley kicks out Tiffany and Belair at the same time. We’ve got 3 left – Bayley, Morgan and Cargill. Morgan kicks Cargill out but Bayley sneaks in and shoves out Morgan.
Final result: Bayley wins the Women’s Royal Rumble
Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight vs. AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton in a fatal four-way match
The match starts by the challengers ganging up on Reigns and stomping on him in the corner. The teamwork ends with Knight and Styles hitting each other. Orton works Reigns. Just a bunch of crashes and bangs everywhere off the announce table. Orton gets some offense vs everyone.
Knight’s turn to get into the spotlight. Reigns take his opportunity now. Eight clotheslines in a row to Knight while he’s in the corner. As someone who hasn’t watched a ton of pro wrestling for a while, I appreciate the slow-mo replays that they’re using. Styles kicks the legs of Roman. Reigns gets a high back drop and goes for a finisher on Knight. Knight ducks and punches the champion repeatedly.
Knight does a sweet jump up directly to the top rope and superplexes Styles off. Roman runs in and Knight hits his finisher (BFT) – near fall as Styles breaks up the pin attempt. Styles hits his finisher (Styles Clash) on Reigns, but gets his pinfall attempt broken up by Knight. Orton hits a suspended DDT on Knight. Orton catches an RKO on Styles, one on Knight and a third on Reigns. The pinfall is broken up by one of Reigns’ boys, Solo Sikoa, in this no DQ match.
Styles off the top rope on Reigns, tries for the pin, can’t get the 3-count. Styles gets a chair and starts teeing off on Reigns. Reigns gets a bunch of chair shots to the torso and Styles turns it onto Knight. He goes to do it to Orton, who pokes him in the eye and uppercuts him out of the ring. Orton eats a spear. Knight gets a big move on Reigns. Goes for a finisher, but Reigns pushes him off into the ropes as Styles was about to jump on them. Styles falls, gets speared, Reigns with the 3-count.
Final result: Roman Reigns defends his title.
Logan Paul vs. Kevin Owens
Bigger man Owens working on Paul early. Bashes him into the ring guardrails a couple times before getting him back into the ring. Paul gets in a couple hits but eats a senton bomb, a clothesline and a couple slaps. Owens gets stomped as he tries to come back in the ring, followed by a huge slingshot to the outside.
Slams into the stairs and Owens back into the ring. Working on the right hand/wrist of Owens. Big cross body splash plus a moonsault. Paul trying for an armlock. Paul keeps trying to go on that arm. Leg drop by Paul, doesn’t get the pin. Paul misses a 6-1-9, gets hit by a clothesline, gets his knees up to break up a Senton bomb. Owens neckbreaker.
Owens selling the injury to the wrist. Pair of cannonballs onto a seated Paul. Owens frog splash, Paul kicks out. Owens off the top again, Paul gets the knees up again. Paul misses his own top-rope move. Springboard clothesline into a frog splash, Owens kicks out. Owens with a top-rope brainbuster.
Paul hits him with a big right hand, can’t get a pin. Double clothesline from each man. A bunch of goons run in for a distraction and one slips Paul a pair of brass knuckles. Owens blocks the punch attempt, steals the knucks and clobbers Paul. The ref is about to count the three, then “sees” the knucks on Owens’ fist and DQ’s him.
Ownes powerbombs Paul through the announce table after the match.
Final result: Logan Paul wins by DQ and retains his title
