Showtime is pulling out a few of the stops for the upcoming boxing match between social media star Jake Paul and former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, which takes place Aug. 29 inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio.
Jake’s older brother and fellow celebrity boxer, Logan Paul, will join what the network is calling an “all-star announce team” for the upcoming pay-per-view (PPV) extravaganza, which by definition suggests everyone involved is a “star.”
Like veteran sportscaster Brian Custer.
Showtime fixture Mauro Ranallo joins Hall of Fame analyst Al Bernstein to call the live action at ringside, with Paul and Bellator MMA featherweight champion AJ McKee serving as special guest commentators.
MMA reporter Ariel Helwani provides analysis at ringside along with in-ring post-fight interviews, while fellow MMA reporter Phoenix Carnevale will serve as a roving reporter, similar to what Megan Olivi does for UFC broadcasts.
Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy and podcast mouthpiece Dan Katz will host sports betting segments throughout the telecast. The in-ring announcer will be none other than Jimmy Lennon Jr., backed by Cleveland’s own electronic dance music artist “E-V.”
The Paul-Woodley PPV will cost $59.99.
In the Aug. 29 co-main event, women’s pound-for-pound boxing sensation Amanda “Real Deal” Serrano defends her WBC, WBO, and IBO female featherweight titles opposite Mexican mauler Yamileth Mercado. Elsewhere on the card, Tommy “TNT” Fury, brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, collides with Anthony “Pretty Boy” Taylor.
