Logan Paul and Anderson Silva might have something in the works.
Earlier this week a supposed ‘leaked message’ tipped us off that a boxing match between former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and YouTube celebrity/hobby boxer Logan Paul was a possibility.
That message, shared by Dillon Danis, claimed that Silva vs. Paul was being planned for September 19 and that it would take place in Dubai.
That rumour gained some credibility yesterday night when Paul’s manager Jeff Levin spoke with ESPN’s Mike Coppinger.
Levin stated that his client was in talks with Silva regarding a bout for later this year. It’s not known at this stage whether the proposed bout is a fully sanctioned boxing match or an exhibition bout.
Paul’s last appearance in the ring was an eight round exhibition with Floyd Mayweather Jr. That bout, which sold upwards of a million pay-per-views, ended without a winner being declared.
In June Silva returned to the boxing ring after a 16-year absence to face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The 46-year-old Brazilian impressed in that bout, taking the win over the former WBC middleweight champ by split decision.
After that bout Silva talked about his fondness for the Paul brothers and his hope to do business with Logan.
Silva’s pursuit of marque boxing matches comes after his release from the UFC. The Spider fought in the Octagon between 2006 and 2019 and is remembered as one of the most dominant champion’s in the company’s history.
