The UFC added a lightweight bout to their February 29th show in Norfolk, VA.
‘Violent Bob Ross’ Luis Peña (9-2) will be back in action next month. On February 29th, at UFC Fight Night: Benavidez vs. Figueiredo, he’ll welcome Alex Munoz (6-0) to the lightweight division.
The match-up was announced by the UFC this week. The booking adds a somewhat notable figure to a card currently bereft of household-names.

The enigmatic Peña has been with the UFC since impressing The Ultimate Fighter: Undefeated in 2018. Though injury ruled him out of that contest, he was victories in that show’s live finale (submitting Richie Smullen).
Since then Peña has dropped split decisions to Michael Trizano and Matt Frevola and beaten Steven Peterson and Matt Wiman (via TKO). The Arkansas-based Peña currently trains with American Top Team (ATT).
Munoz is a recent signing for the UFC — though, he did beat Nick Newell via unanimous decision on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in 2018. Munoz’s unbeaten record includes regional victories in the XKO, CUFF and Trinity Kings promotions. He’s a product of Team Alpha Male in Sacramento.
UFC Fight Night 169/UFC on ESPN+ 27 takes place at the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, VA. Headlining the event is a bout for the vacant UFC flyweight title between Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo. The co-main event is a featherweight bout between Felicia Spencer and Zarah Farim dos Santos.
