The hits just keep on coming.
Not only did Conor McGregor lose his sexual assault civil suit, the former UFC two-division champion must now pay the victim’s legal fees. In addition, the judge is threatening to file contempt of court charges in the wake of McGregor’s angry, post-verdict social media rant.
That’s according to a report from RTE in Ireland.
“A court of feeling and opinion, brainwashed into people via the mainstream media, not fact,” an angry McGregor tweeted after a jury found him liable for sexual assault. “The reporting in court a laughing stock to everyone present. As clear as day bias.”
“This is not a court of hard evidence and truth,” McGregor continued. “It is a kangaroo court of opinions and feelings. We are not done yet. Not by a long shot. No chance. On we fight! Justice and truth will prevail! Appeal! Appeal! Appeal!”
The inactive UFC fighter was dropped by Proper 12 following the verdict.
McGregor, 36, is expected to appeal the court’s decision over the coming days. In addition to the incendiary comments made by “Notorious,” his longtime fiancee, Dee Devlin, used her social media channels to slam the verdict and paint the victim as the sexual aggressor.
Expect more on these ongoing developments in the coming days.
